It provides a welcoming and comfortable space where we gather for morning meetings, story time, and small group lessons. The vibrant colors and cozy feel have truly transformed the way we build community and engage in learning each day.\r\n\r\nThe whisper phones have also been a fantastic addition to our reading routine. They've helped students improve fluency, focus on phonics, and build confidence as readers. Your kindness has made a truly significant impact on the learning opportunities we can provide for our students.\r\n\r\nThanks to your thoughtful contribution, we were able to purchase several wonderful sets of phonics chapter books specifically designed for older students who are still developing their reading skills. These engaging books are exactly what we needed to help these learners build confidence and fluency in a way that is both effective and age-appropriate.\r\n\r\nIt's truly inspiring to see the excitement on their faces as they delve into these new stories. Your generosity is directly contributing to their literacy journey and empowering them to become more confident and independent readers. This will have a lasting positive effect on their academic success and their lives.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of all the students in our special education program, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your belief in our students and your commitment to their education. They have made real world connections as stained glass artisians. They successfully calculated costs of designing stain glass windows and doors using linear equations. The project impacted their financial literacy by using the linear equation to calculate costs and profits for designing stain glass windows and doors. They were able to change standard form to slope intercept form and graph linear equations to create beautiful stain glass designs. \r\n\r\nMy students were excited to graph linear equations and get a chance to be creative with their designs. I was able to copy the coordinate system on transparencies so each student could graph their linear equation. Once they were finished with their graphing they transfered their designs to laminating film and created unique glass pieces. They were happy we had a variety of color choices and new sharpees to color their designs. They were excited to use the laminator to finalize their stain glass piece and frame their work. Many students used shading techniques they learned in art and applied thier skills to their art pieces. One of my students said, \"Mrs Provance, this is the first time I understand linear equations and enjoyed learning Algebra\" I loved this stained glass project! \r\n\r\nMy next project will extend from this one. Students will find their own stain glass designs to graph and transfer onto laminating film. They will use all the materials but on their second piece, they will graph linear equations with the same slopes, showing parallel lines, they will learn how to calculate perpendicular lines and demonstrate finding the negative inverse of the slope. They will find a point and slope on their pictures and show the algebra necessary to write a linear equation. They will also find two points on their pictures and show the algebra to find and graph the linear equation between two points. We are excited to share are designs and post them on donors choose.
