Thanks to you, my students are actively engaged in math and working in collaborative groups daily. The mobile whiteboards have become the heart of our classroom. Every single day, students are up on their feet, brainstorming together and visually mapping out their logic. Because they are standing and working in teams, the fear of making a mistake has vanished; they simply wipe the board and try a new strategy.\r\n\r\nThe iPad has also been a game-changer for my teaching. It allows me to move freely around the room, capturing student work in real-time and providing immediate feedback while they are still in the middle of a problem. This combination of movement and technology has helped my students see themselves as capable mathematicians. You haven't just provided supplies; you've built a community of active thinkers.","fullyFundedDate":1771602108780,"projectUrl":"project/thinking-on-their-feet-using-btc-for-ma/10105446/","projectTitle":"Thinking on Their Feet: Using BTC for Math RTI","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Horikami","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9811660"},{"teacherId":8360515,"projectId":10108975,"letterContent":"The TI-108 calculators and organizational tools have fundamentally changed our daily learning by removing barriers to success. For students who struggle with mental math, the calculators act as an essential bridge to higher-level logic, allowing them to focus on complex problem-solving rather than being stalled by basic arithmetic. Meanwhile, the colorful storage bins and bulk supplies like the pre-sharpened pencils have transformed our classroom into a high-efficiency workshop. This organization is especially vital for students with executive functioning challenges, as it replaces the frustration of lost materials with a predictable, color-coded system that maximizes their actual learning time.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, your gift has created a unique \"Collaborative Zone\" that has the students incredibly excited. By using the portable stadium seats and coffee table, we have broken away from rigid desk rows to create a comfortable space where students can work together on the floor with proper back support. This shift in the physical environment has particularly benefited our more kinesthetic learners, who now feel more relaxed and focused. From the dry-erase markers used for brainstorming to the disinfecting wipes our students use to take pride in their new space, these items have collectively built a cleaner, more professional, and more inclusive environment for every child.","fullyFundedDate":1771709348791,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-clean-comfortable-and-colla/10108975/","projectTitle":"Creating a Clean, Comfortable, and Collaborative Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Shiraki","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8360515"},{"teacherId":9374701,"projectId":10108161,"letterContent":"Mahalo for your incredible generosity and support of our classroom through DonorsChoose. Your donations provided my students with the boards and supplies they needed to fully participate in our annual Science Fair. Thanks to your kindness, several of my 7th graders advanced to the District level and even went on to compete at the State Science Fair where we brought home a first, second and 3rd place medals for their category. The student who won first place also won a $200 award from the Chinese Women's Association. Additionally, her project project placed among the top 10% of our 2026 Hawaii State Science & Engineering Fair, middle school division and was nominated to compete in the Thermo Fisher Scientific Innovators Challenge. They were absolutely thrilled to receive the materials necessary to create their presentation boards—resources that many of their families would not have been able to afford. Your contribution truly helped level the playing field and gave them the opportunity to shine.\r\nIn addition to supporting our Science Fair efforts, your thoughtful donations of waffle and pancake equipment, puzzles, board games, and fidgets have made a meaningful impact on our daily classroom environment. Students who complete their work early now have engaging, hands-on options that encourage creativity, collaboration, and positive interaction, rather than simply turning to screens. This has helped foster a more balanced and connected classroom community.\r\nYour generosity continues to inspire both me and my students. While I have been teaching my math lessons just fine, having these extra supplies makes it a lot easier. One of those things would be the Apple TV. Before the Apple TV, I would have to have my computer plugged in to show slides on the smart board. However, now with the Apple TV, I am able to show the slides wirelessly. This make it easier to be able to have that mobility with my laptop as well making it easier to present lessons. While there Apple TV was something that helped that I didn't have, some of the other supplies were also needed because I simply needed more.\r\n\r\nA lot of the other supplies I did not have enough of. For example, I did have some calculator, but not enough for every student in my classes. It would help if students brought their own calculators, but I would almost always need to either have students share, or have them use a calculator on their laptop. Now, there are enough calculators for each student. The same thing goes for the pencils, post its, dry erase board markers, and dry erase board erasers. The markers and erasers were especially necessary because I do a lot of Building Thinking Classroom activities with my class, where students do work standing at a whiteboard. Additionally, the pencils are always needed for students to do their work, and having more post its helps write notes for students and also helps provide a bookmark so they know which page in their workbook to complete. Overall, this project getting funded truly has helped.
