I don't have a sink in my room and the bathrooms are off limits for paint, leaving my students in a bit of a conundrum. There was a palpable sense of excitement and, more importantly, a sense of ownership. One specific moment that stands out was during our final planning session; a group of students who are typically quite reserved took charge of the floor plan, using our new resources to map out student flow and safety zones. They weren't just decorating a gym; they were solving logistical puzzles and seeing their visions take physical shape in real-time.\r\nMoving forward, we are using the momentum from this success to dive into our next unit on organizational psychology. The students are currently analyzing the feedback data from the dance to understand group dynamics and leadership efficacy. Your support didn't just fund a single night of fun—it provided the \"lab equipment\" for a hands-on lesson in leadership that these students will carry with them well beyond high school. Binding their own sketchbooks has created a strong sense of ownership and pride, and students are much more invested in using them consistently.\r\nThe ability to print images and references has also expanded how students learn. They use printed photos for collage, drawing, mixed media, and printmaking techniques, allowing them to physically explore ideas instead of only working from screens. These hands-on processes help students take more creative risks and build confidence in their work.\r\nOne of the most exciting changes has been seeing students view themselves more like real artists. Even students who were initially hesitant have become more engaged in daily creative practice, filling their sketchbooks with sketches, notes, experiments, and reflections. The studio has become a more thoughtful, active, and creative environment because students now have durable materials and professional tools to support their ideas.","fullyFundedDate":1771439359087,"projectUrl":"project/sketchbooks-as-studio-print-cut-creat/10103358/","projectTitle":"Sketchbooks as Studio: Print, Cut, Create","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kelly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9967586"},{"teacherId":8626801,"projectId":10103385,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donations and supporting the classroom environment. Now we can easily outline where they need to cut and have a lower learning curve with the hemmer foot.\r\nStudents also enjoyed creating their own memory booklets using the binding machine for their projects and the rolling desks allows the materials to go to each student rather than having the students crowd in one area.
