Our murals were an excellent way for students to apply their learning from throughout the school year as well as make a difference on our school. The supplies that we received helped us fulfill this project (scissors, glue, paper, etc).\r\n\r\nA lot of incentive items were also fulfilled in this order (headphones, prizes, snacks, flasks, board games, etc.) Students were given the opportunity to win these rewards by completing their ELA intervention assignments (iReady) and working hard to show improvement on their SBAs. Students who might have stayed silent are now more willing to participate because they know their voices matter.\r\n\r\nThe Bluetooth speaker has become a valuable classroom tool. We use it for audiobooks, poetry, and other listening activities that support literacy skills. It also allows me to play calming music during independent reading and writing time, helping students stay focused and engaged.\r\n\r\nCreating a positive classroom environment is important to me. The diffuser helps make our classroom feel calm and welcoming, giving students a space where they can focus, learn, and feel comfortable taking academic risks.\r\n\r\nThe sports equipment has been especially popular with students. Volleyballs, basketballs, and badminton sets provide meaningful incentives that encourage effort, positive behavior, and teamwork. I've got students who come to school visibly hungry, like they haven't eaten breakfast or maybe not since lunch yesterday, and now I can just hand them something right away. No questions, no fuss. I've literally watched kids go from barely able to keep their heads up to actually engaging in the lesson, all because of a granola bar. It's honestly heartbreaking that this is what they needed, but I'm so grateful I can give it to them now without having to keep it stocked by myself.\r\n\r\nThe other piece is the PBIS rewards. When students finish their minimum iReady assignments, they get to pick a snack from the cart, then another snack for every additional lesson passed. You should see their faces! Kids who normally drag their feet through every single task are suddenly asking if they can do MORE work just to earn another snack. And for my really unmotivated ones, the kids who've kind of given up on school, this cart is something concrete they can work toward. It's showing them that their effort actually matters and gets recognized.\r\n\r\nI also make sure to reward my students who are already doing the right thing, the ones who follow directions and work hard every day. They deserve to be celebrated too!\r\n\r\nThat first day with the cart? Oh my gosh, they were SO excited! Eyes lit up, huge smiles, one kid literally yelled \"That's for US?!\" Like they couldn't believe someone actually thought about them and wanted to do something nice. It was such a sweet moment.\r\n\r\nWe're really building something here! I'm working on making sure every student gets at least one win each week where they earn their reward, whether it's finishing tough assignments, being kind, or just pushing through when things get hard. \r\n\r\nAnd here's my plan: I'm saving a bunch of Pop-Tarts and granola bars specifically for SBA testing. When those high stakes tests come around, I want every single one of my students walking in with a full belly and a clear mind. Nobody's taking a test that matters this much on an empty stomach, not on my watch!
