With so many career opportunities available in STEM fields, our students can now explore paths that truly interest them. This is our school's first year offering a STEM elective, and it has been amazing to see students collaborate on team projects. In our lab, they dive into robotics, aerial drones, coding using micro:bits, life science research, renewable energy, and electricity projects. \r\nThe recent donations helped our lab tremendously, as having essential supplies and resources is the key to student success. Students used the materials to research and log data in their STEM logbooks. We also do a lot of math using our vertical boards; having a steady supply of sticky notes, markers, glue, and pencils has been a wonderful blessing. Students tackled math problems at various levels and proudly showcased their work on the sticky sheets, using timers to stay on track. Even the new wallpaper helped transform the lab into a pleasant, positive learning environment. \r\nI want to thank the donors for their immense generosity and kindness in providing these requested supplies. My students are incredibly grateful as well; it brings them great joy to know there are donors who believe in them and want to support their educational journey. In an era where digital literacy often takes center stage, providing students with the tools to engage in tactile, creative, and technical vocational skills is a gift that truly keeps on giving. Your contribution has not only filled a physical gap in our workshop but has sparked a renewed sense of possibility and entrepreneurial spirit among my students.\r\n\r\nThe Initial \"Wow\" Factor\r\nWhen the boxes first arrived and were placed at the front of the room, the atmosphere in the classroom shifted instantly from routine curiosity to genuine excitement. I'll never forget the reaction of one student, Marcus, who gasped as I unveiled the heat press. \"Wait, we can make actual brands now?\" he asked.\r\n\r\nThe students crowded around, their eyes wide as they examined the sleek design of the sewing machine and the sturdy, industrial feel of the press. For many of them, these aren't just \"tools\"—they are bridges to the professional world. They spent the first twenty minutes simply touching the controls and asking about the mechanics. The \"new machine smell\" was matched only by the palpable energy of twenty-five teenagers suddenly realizing that their design ideas were no longer confined to the pages of their sketchbooks.\r\n\r\nWe have integrated these tools into our \"Maker-to-Market\" curriculum, which focuses on the intersection of art, engineering, and business.\r\n\r\nThe Sewing Machine: This has become the workhorse of our textile unit. Students are learning the fundamentals of seam construction, threading, and tension control. It is teaching them patience and precision—skills that are universally applicable.\r\n\r\nThe Heat Press: This has revolutionized our graphic design projects. We are using it to apply HTV (Heat Transfer Vinyl) and sublimation prints onto various substrates. It has turned our classroom into a mini production studio where students can see their digital illustrations transformed into physical products within seconds.\r\n\r\nThe Long-Term Impact\r\nYour generosity is doing more than just helping us complete projects; it is fostering \"soft skills\" like troubleshooting, spatial reasoning, and creative problem-solving. My students are now discussing starting a school store and taking commissions for club t-shirts, which is teaching them the basics of commerce and labor value.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and for investing in their creative futures. These items have been a game-changer in my classroom. The large whiteboard in particular has been utilized for classroom discussions, 4-corner activities, poster-posting, and important notes and vocabulary words. I use it every day. For example, during my Amplify Frankenstein unit, I used the board to harbor a class brainstorm on whether or not the Creature should be considered a human. Students were able to see all of their answers and incorporate their own opinions. Because the board is double-sided, I could leave their brainstorm up for the entirety of the essay and still use the board for other things, which was very helpful for the students.\r\n\r\nThe mini boards have also been incredibly helpful to make \"boring\" discussions more lively. Students were extra excited about these because they looked like ping-pong paddles and could be used to wave their answers around the class. For example, I used these hand-held boards when discussing challenging passages about Victor Frankenstein. I pointed to a specific sentence and asked students to draw the reaction face of Frankenstein when he confronted the Creature. They had a lot of fun with that one! \r\n\r\nLastly, the file holder has helped me organize my class notes (I have different notes for every period) and my copies so that they do not get lost or mixed up. This is the first year our school has offered a STEM elective, which made it critical for me as an educator to have all the resources I wanted to use to teach the STEM curriculum. In addition to the elective class, I run an after-school STEM club where a group of our students meet to do STEM or science projects. I have purchased some of the resources to get started, but donors like you helped provide the remaining necessary materials.\r\n Students in the elective class are preparing for high school, where they will need to select electives that interest them or will help them in their future careers. I focused on science and environmental topics so students can connect learning to everyday life. The posters were a great blessing because students can refer to them on the classroom walls. The pH meter helped them learn how to calibrate the device before use and how the tool identifies whether liquids or sodas are alkaline or acidic. They also learned the benefits of engaging in hydroponics and how we can do simple projects in our backyard. Students enjoyed using the globe to learn about the ecosystems of different regions and how climate and seasons affect each region.\r\n Overall, the donations helped us get started with the STEM class and produced a positive increase in learning and knowledge across different topics.
