Instead of sitting quietly at their desks, students now stand, collaborate, and solve problems together in visible learning spaces. One powerful moment happened during a fraction problem-solving lesson—groups were working on different strategies, and students began comparing methods across boards. They debated reasoning, revised their thinking, and explained their solutions with confidence. The whiteboards allow them to take risks, erase mistakes easily, and focus on the process rather than just the final answer.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the boards mounted around the room, their excitement was immediate. They were eager to stand up, grab markers, and begin working. Even students who are usually hesitant to participate became more involved because the environment feels active and low-pressure. Writing vertically encourages teamwork and accountability, and students naturally talk through their thinking instead of working in isolation. It has created a classroom culture where mistakes are part of learning and thinking is visible.\r\n\r\nNext, my students will use the boards to tackle multi-step word problems and math challenges that require deeper reasoning and multiple solution paths. They will rotate between boards, analyze peer strategies, and refine their mathematical arguments. Because of your generosity, our classroom is no longer just a place to complete work—it is a space where students truly think, collaborate, and grow together. Thank you for helping build a classroom where thinking happens out loud.","fullyFundedDate":1739368030664,"projectUrl":"project/art-matherials/8906015/","projectTitle":"Art MATHerials","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. TEJANO","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9705698"},{"teacherId":4483605,"projectId":5682359,"letterContent":"The snacks and mindful tools are used daily to support focus, regulation, and a sense of safety in our classroom. My students come from diverse backgrounds and bring a wide range of learning levels to our classroom, and because of your help, we can now better support their unique sensory and physical needs. The calming fluorescent light covers create a soothing atmosphere for those with sensory sensitivities, while the wiggle wobble feet allow my active learners to stay focused by providing movement while they work. Additionally, healthy snack bars and fun incentives like scratch-and-sniff stickers and sticky hands will help my students learn to persevere even when a lesson becomes difficult.\r\nThe white boards are a true game-changer for our classroom, as they allow students to get up and work together to share their thinking as they solve problems. What's great about this game is that it can also be played with decimals. \r\nLearning through games receive more cheers than jeers from students, and the best part is that the students don't realize they are learning. The impact on our classroom has been truly transformative. When we first introduced the bean bags, fidget toys, and the soft carpet, the students were overjoyed. You could see the excitement in their faces as they explored these new resources, and it was clear from the very beginning that this was something special for them.\r\n\r\nOne moment that stands out for me was when one of my more anxious students, who often struggles to stay focused, found comfort in the calming corner. After just a few minutes with the fidget toys and the bean bag, she was able to calm herself and come back to the lesson with a renewed sense of focus and peace. It was such a beautiful reminder of how small changes can make a big difference in a child's ability to thrive.\r\n\r\nOur students are now using the calming corner in so many meaningful ways—not just to relax, but also to refocus when they're feeling overwhelmed. It's become a safe space where they can take a break, process their emotions, and return to their work with a clearer mind. Some of the students even work together in the corner, sharing the toys and supporting one another, which has strengthened our classroom community in ways we didn't anticipate.\r\n\r\nWe are beyond thankful for your contribution.
