My students need a variety of informational texts that teaches them about important historical figures, seasonal changes, special holidays and celebrations, as well as interesting animals and places all over the world. Since many of my students are born and raised in the Hawaiian Islands and may never have the chance to travel to the mainland or abroad, they need real world examples brought to them through photographs and rich texts that are appropriate for their age and reading levels. Rich content provided through colored photographs and grade level text will help motivate my students and spark their interests in learning.
