Unfortunately, there was a delay in my receiving of the devise. Then when it did arrive it did not include the probes to measure Water Temperature & Salinity, even though before ordering the devise I contacted the company, & they assured me that the model I ordered came with all three probes. Therefore I needed to order the 2 missing probes which created an extra delay.\r\n\r\nWhen the Spier Water Quality Measuring Devise was finally ready, the students were excited to see how the devise could measure the temperature & Salinity of the water in the fishponds. The keiki were placed in 2 groups each group accesses the fishpond bi-monthly on Wednesday, (our school Project Day). there are 3 distinct fishponds at this site, they are separated physically but connected to each other through a system of rock wall boundaries & Sluice gates. The ponds are brackish water which is a mixture of ocean water & an underground fresh water source, which comes directly down from Mauna Kea. the biggest pond is closest to the ocean, the smallest pond is the farthest away from the ocean, & closer to the inland, the Middle pond is between those 2 ponds.\r\n\r\nAfter taking the data using the Spier Water Quality Measuring devise, the keiki returned to classroom, & compared their data. due to the delay, in obtaining all the needs parts of the devise, the keiki were unable to gather a sufficient amount of data to make correlations between Moon Phases Tides, Water Quality, & fish abundance. They were able to compare data between the ponds and look for patterns in the data. They noted that consistently the pond closest to the ocean had the highest temperature & level of salinity, the water temperature & salinity decreased consistently & proportionately across the ponds as each pond got farther away from the ocean.","fullyFundedDate":1731528104994,"projectUrl":"project/correlations-between-hawaiian-moon-phase/8933245/","projectTitle":"Correlations Between Hawaiian Moon Phases,Tides, and Water Quality of Fishponds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ioane","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7395791_orig.jpg?crop=592,592,x24,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1596847631039","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7395791"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_70831","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":292,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":65,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":24,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.1,"schoolId":70831,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ka 'Umeke Ka'eo Public Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ka 'Umeke Ka'eo Public Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/hawaii/hawaii-school-district/ka-umeke-kaeo-public-charter-school/70831"}
