Our school library now has three 3D printers and we print projects for students at no charge as long as the students have done their own design work. \r\n\r\nEvery Wednesday morning we have 3D printing club and about 30 students come to the library to practice their design skills using the free online software called Tinkered. Students share their designs and ideas, and sometimes an expert comes in and gives kids tips as well. \r\n\r\nThe new filament we received with this grant is allowing us to print student designs for any and all students who request printing, and students are thrilled to be able to choose from our bright new colors of filament. The beauty of the reef was not lost on them! These ecosystems are in danger and we learned a bit about how humans impact the reefs. I had them sketch ideas, so they honed their planning skills! They revised sketches after seeing a demo about clay- this helped with their creative problem solving skills. And then they went to work! \r\nAlmost most all of the projects turned out well. One or two kids learned about reading and following directions-on the glaze bottle. Even those projects turned out nice enough. For the past few years, I am really focused on social emotional learning. That means that students need to have autonomy to make their own choices. They get to pick who they want the subject of their art to be. I don't always know who their favorite candy or even cartoon, musician or athlete is going to be so it's impossible for me to print them all ahead of time. \r\nYour generous donation means I don't have to sweat the small stuff, I can just focus on doing my job and making meaning Art connections with my students.","fullyFundedDate":1746785239057,"projectUrl":"project/instant-visuals-ink-for-engagement/9238284/","projectTitle":"Instant Visuals: Ink for Engagement","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bishop","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8821267_orig.png?crop=422,422,x175,y392&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1667059874614","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-bishop-art"},{"teacherId":8821267,"projectId":9188313,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping make our art show a big success! By the end of the school year, I'm usually running out of the materials I need to put on an art show successfully. I don't think anyone realizes how much packaging tape I go through in a year!\r\nYour generous donation helps students to believe in themselves. Not just because they were able to see their artwork hung in the halls of our school, but because your donation is a signal to them that you believe in them- in their education. With every funded project, I make sure to tell our students that the resources for the project came from friends, family, community members, and complete and total strangers! \r\nIt is my hope that when these students grow up, they will also be generous people. \r\nI hope you enjoy the pictures from the art show. We had some very traditional moments where art was hung on the walls. But we also had some fun moments where students were dressed up AS the art. We lost our original space so we had to make do with hanging art on some recycled boxes. We would not have been able to make that happen without the materials from this project.\r\nThank you again for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1745848753868,"projectUrl":"project/stick-it-making-an-art-show/9188313/","projectTitle":"Stick it!
