My students and I had a fun time learning about plants, planting seeds, and watching the seeds grow. We will eventually put the seedlings in the garden. We are waiting for rain and the seedings to get a little bit bigger.\r\n\r\nAs we planted seeds, we read books about gardening, plants, and growing seeds. Some of the books we shared were Prunella, A Seed is Sleepy, and Lola Plants a Garden. We discussed parts of the plants including roots, stems, and leaves. The fun part was watching the seeds grow under grow lights. The students would stop by to check on their plants in the library under the lights. Teachers have noticed fewer disruptions and more positive interactions among students. The corner supports the development of emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and coping skills in a healthy, respectful way. It's become an essential part of our classroom community, promoting a culture of care, empathy, and resilience.
