In AP Psychology, we are using the new neuron-building materials to physically construct and label parts of the neuron as we study the biological basis of behavior. Instead of simply memorizing terms like dendrites, axons, and myelin sheaths, students are building them, modeling neural transmission, and explaining how signals travel across synapses. In Economics, our organizational resources and folders are helping students manage materials for our hands-on business structures unit and our larger project-based learning simulations. Students are sorting, comparing, and analyzing sole proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations in structured, interactive ways—and now they have organized systems to keep their charts, case studies, and notes together.\r\n\r\nIn Government, we use our \"Gummy Bears Government\" project to explore different types of governments and systems. Students work in groups to design and build a government using gummy bears to represent leaders, citizens, and institutions. They must clearly model how power is distributed, how decisions are made, and what rights citizens do (or do not) have. Then, students rotate around the room and try to guess which type of government each group created—democracy, monarchy, dictatorship, oligarchy, and more—based on the structures they observe. The first time students saw the materials laid out, they were immediately excited. What could have been a traditional lecture on government systems became a creative, high-energy lesson full of discussion, debate, and critical thinking.\r\n\r\nNext, my AP Psychology students will use their neuron models to connect biological processes to behavior and psychological disorders through exam-style evidence-based questions. In Economics, students are moving into deeper application—using organized folders to track their progress in budgeting and real-world financial simulations. In Government, we will build on our gummy bear systems to analyze real-world countries and evaluate how power structures impact citizens. Your support is helping create a classroom where students are actively constructing knowledge, not just passively receiving it. Thank you for investing in meaningful, hands-on learning for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1769177036473,"projectUrl":"project/ap-psych-neurons-building-econ-organiz/10017357/","projectTitle":"AP Psych Neurons Building & Econ Organization","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Zangas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8525040_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y60&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1685504965686","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8525040"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_48106","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":3085,"numTeachers":153,"percentFrplEligible":57,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":41,"percentWhite":17,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":30,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"20.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":74.9,"schoolId":48106,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Campbell High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Campbell High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/cobb-county-school-district/campbell-high-school/48106"}
