This is a World Literature class and as we start our unit on Human Rights, I would like to connect the Holocaust and Elie Wiesel's personal experience with the ongoing threats of genocide currently happening in the world. I think it would be very important for the students to connect history with what is currently happening. They will be engaged in multi-media projects to see how history is unfortunately repeating itself, BUT, that they can make a difference. We are a global community and it is important to teach students that if we do not make the world aware of genocide, then we are accepting the tragedies that are happening today.
