Thanks to your generosity through DonorsChoose, that dream is now a reality. The adjustable floor seats have transformed not only our classroom reading area but also the way my students approach reading, learning, and working with one another.\r\n\r\nBefore this project, my reading corner had only a rug and a few pillows that offered little support. Students loved the space but often grew uncomfortable after just a few minutes, which distracted from their reading. Now, with the new seats, students can adjust their position for comfort, whether they are leaning back to enjoy a story or sitting upright to take notes. This has led to noticeable improvements in focus and stamina. Children who once struggled to stay engaged with a book now read for much longer, and many comment that the seats make reading \"more fun\" and \"special.\"\r\n\r\nThe excitement around the seats has gone beyond reading time. Students now ask to use them during writing, partner projects, and even small group discussions. The seats have helped create a sense of ownership and pride in the classroom, showing students that their learning environment is truly designed with their needs in mind.\r\n\r\nCollaboration has also grown stronger. During group reading activities, students naturally move the seats into small circles, creating an inclusive and comfortable space for discussion. The ability to adjust their chairs individually allows each child to focus without disturbing others, and I've noticed more students—especially the quieter ones—speaking up to share their ideas. This simple shift has built a greater sense of classroom community.\r\n\r\nThe adjustable seats have also made a difference in equity. Every child can find a position that works for them, which has been especially helpful for students who struggle with attention or need extra support. For these students, the structure and comfort of the chairs help them stay engaged longer and feel more successful. At the same time, students who thrive in a cozy, flexible space feel more motivated. It's been wonderful to watch the entire class benefit in unique ways.\r\n\r\nBeyond the physical impact, this project has given my students a powerful message: people outside our classroom believe in their potential. When I explained that generous donors provided these seats to support their learning, students were touched. Many said it made them feel \"important\" and \"special\" to know others cared about their education. That sense of encouragement has boosted their confidence and excitement for learning.\r\n\r\nIn just a short time, these seats have become a treasured part of our daily routine. They've turned our reading area into a true community space where students feel safe, comfortable, and eager to grow as readers. Your kindness has created lasting change—not only for this year's group of 2nd graders but also for many future students who will enjoy these seats for years to come.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and helping me foster a love of reading. Because of you, our classroom is not just a place to learn—it's a place where students feel valued, supported, and inspired.","fullyFundedDate":1750774658647,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-better-learning/9266922/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for Better Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sanchez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6701071_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1669757281261","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mscurlysanchez"},{"teacherId":6701071,"projectId":9077900,"letterContent":"When our graduating 5th graders first saw the materials for the Kindness Garden project, they were thrilled to take part in something meaningful and lasting. Using the paint supplies and rocks generously funded by your donations, they designed and created kindness rocks filled with positive messages and bright, uplifting artwork. As the first group to participate in this new 5th grade tradition at our school, they took great pride in setting the tone for future classes. Each rock was thoughtfully crafted to inspire kindness, encouragement, and joy for everyone who visits the garden.\r\n\r\nThis new tradition has become a special way for our oldest students to leave their mark before moving on to middle school. Their beautifully painted kindness rocks now line the walkway of our garden space, where they serve as daily reminders to be compassionate and thoughtful. In the coming years, each graduating 5th grade class will add their own rocks, growing the garden and strengthening our school community. One of our favorite moments so far was when the students first saw the hydroponic systems. The excitement was palpable as they explored the equipment and learned how plants can grow without soil. \r\n\r\nThe students are using the new resources to understand the science behind plant growth, water cycles, and sustainability.
