My 5th grade kiddos loved having the opportunity to give back to people within our school community who are less fortunate by providing food, supplies, stress items, Valentines treats and snacks through a student-created center.\r\n\r\nThe students created an appealing in-class help center. They'd were in charge of storing, organizing and labeling items in the center and advertising items that were available to all students in the school community who were in need of a snack, school supplies and even mental health items (stress gadgets and items).\r\n\r\nThe kiddos made it their mission to have compassion for those in need as they fight food insecurities and/or are lacking the items they need to succeed in school by inviting them to our center. Creating this center helped our kiddos fulfill the needs of others. Next, students will apply these skills in a classroom budgeting project using classroom currency.
