The headphones are especially helpful because they allow students to focus without distractions and work independently with confidence. In addition to technology, the classroom supplies, snacks, and calming tools have helped create a warm and supportive environment where students feel safe and cared for. The essential oils and calming sprays have been especially helpful during stressful moments, helping students relax, focus, and regulate their emotions. From the moment we unrolled it in our classroom, it instantly transformed our space into a warmer, more inviting environment. The bright colors and soft texture have truly made a difference in the way our classroom feels each day.\r\n\r\nWe use the rug every single day. It has become the heart of our classroom a special gathering place where we come together to learn, share, and grow. During morning meetings, the students sit together on the rug as we greet one another, talk about our day, and build our classroom community. It has created a sense of belonging and unity that is so important, especially for young learners.\r\n\r\nStory time has become even more meaningful. The students love choosing their spots on the rug and sitting comfortably while I read aloud to them. Your contributions have made such a positive impact to our classroom learning. When we first opened the boxes together, they were so excited that they started cheering and clapping.\r\n\r\nTo start, Riverside Elementary is a Title 1 school. Unfortunately, students in this region have a low socio-economic status which may affect whether or not students can afford snacks to hold their appetites until lunch. They are used to early lunch when they were in the primary grades like K-1. For 2nd grade, they experience a later lunch and often complain about their hunger. They frequently respond like \"When is lunch?\" or \"I'm hungry. Do you have any snacks?\" By focusing on their hunger, it is difficult to focus on learning. Because of your giving of snacks, I am able to distribute snacks to the children. Now, they are focusing on learning and not hunger.\r\n\r\nFurthermore, I use the snacks as an incentive for learning. For example if they complete their iready minutes and pass the daily lesson, they choose a snack! That way, they feel rewarded for their work AND feel satisfied until lunch time. Also, Student of the Week gets to sit in the donated gamer chair as a reward. Furthermore, the other supplies are used for projects, especially STEAM.\r\nThanks again for your care and concern for the students.","fullyFundedDate":1764102795676,"projectUrl":"project/having-a-blast-in-2nd-grade/9672996/","projectTitle":"Having a Blast in 2nd Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Echezabal","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9760192"},{"teacherId":10207681,"projectId":9635048,"letterContent":"The headphones from this project have made a powerful difference in our English language learners access instruction and build language skills. While many donors use technology at home, in the classroom these tools play a critical role in helping students clearly hear directions, model pronunciation, and engage in interactive language programs. By reducing background noise, the headphones allow students to focus more fully, which is especially important for learners who are simultaneously developing English and academic content knowledge. Most exciting to students is the ability to use the microphones during speaking activities; they feel more confident, independent, and eager to participate.\r\n\r\nThe impact has been especially clear during our annual WIDA English language proficiency testing. With the headphone, students were able to listen carefully, respond accurately, and complete the speaking and listening portions with much greater confidence and success. Several newcomer students who were once hesitant to participate now eagerly put on their headphones and engage in lessons, showing growth in both focus and willingness to communicate. These tools have truly helped create a more equitable learning environment where students feel supported and empowered to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1764102795109,"projectUrl":"project/plug-in-speak-out-tools-for-esol-testi/9635048/","projectTitle":"Plug In, Speak Out: Tools for Esol Testing","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Picon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10207681"},{"teacherId":9647223,"projectId":8624837,"letterContent":"Thank you for everything! I am beyond thankful for everything you have blessed my students with your generous gifts! I think the most reaction I got was when the boxes started to arrive and they saw the food. Remember the population is where some of these students are not being fed enough. So I would use the food as a reward when they got an A on their science or math test or when they completed their weekly 60 math I-Ready minutes. The food helped motivate the students and for that I cannot say thank you enough. It really helped. \r\n\r\nI also used the laminating paper to track their I-Ready lessons of the lessons they passed with an 80% passing rate and would put their name on the WhiteBoard. Kids love to be recognized and thanks to the laminating paper I was able to do that. As well as create I-Ready chain necklaces that would help motivate them to complete I-Ready. Let's just say that students need all the motivation and help they can get when it comes to completing their i-Ready minutes. The organization also helped as well. The kids loved playing the coding game and they had never played it before but it was something to help motivate learning how to code especially using Play Doh to create a gaming console that went with the game. \r\n\r\nI was also able to use the Sharpies to create color anchor charts that helped my ESOL students being able to recognize English words in learning math and science. Also thank you for the pencils because one thing teachers go through very fast is pencils. You can never have enough! The kids were excited with all the markers and highlighters. I used them every day and it was someone's class job to make sure they were collected. Again some families might not be able to purchase school supplies so having the abundance of supplies in my classroom supply closet made students feel like they had a classroom supply that they could borrow. Maybe keep such as the pencils but the markers and other supplies were returned. That's gratitude in words I cannot express. I really hope you feel the joy and gratitude from my students when you read the Thank-You cards. Thank you so much for everything!!! I am not working on a project until summer for next year but I do hope you'll be able to donate to one of my future projects.
