Many of my students come to school without having had breakfast, so offering them a snack mid-morning helps them stay focused or sometimes a snack before they go home in the afternoon keeps them energized throughout the rest of day. One particular moment that stands out was during a reading activity—we were working on a group project about story elements, and I noticed how much more engaged and cooperative the students were after having their snacks. It's amazing how meeting a basic need can transform a learning experience.\r\n\r\nWhen I first introduced the snacks to the students their faces lit up with surprise and gratitude. Several students asked if the snacks were really for them. One child even said, \"This feels like someone really cares about us.\" It was a heartwarming moment that reminded me of the power of kindness and support in education.","fullyFundedDate":1740148128562,"projectUrl":"project/snacks-for-students/9069604/","projectTitle":"Snacks for students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Edwards","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9859545"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_45766","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":610,"numTeachers":42,"percentFrplEligible":57,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":55,"percentWhite":7,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":74.5,"schoolId":45766,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Miami Shores Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Miami Shores Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/miami-dade-county-public-schools/miami-shores-elementary-school/45766"}
