My students were especially excited to see the new aprons, oven mitts, cleaning supplies, and equipment. They immediately wanted to put everything to use and were excited to have supplies that made our kitchen feel more like a professional culinary workspace.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest impacts has been our focus on sanitation and teamwork. Students now have the supplies they need to take greater responsibility for their workstations. They rotate through brigade duties that include food preparation, cooking, dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces. The new mop buckets, mops, scrubbers, dish soap, and laundry detergent have helped us reinforce that keeping a kitchen clean and safe is just as important as preparing the food. Students are learning that professional chefs don't just cook—they take pride in maintaining a safe and organized kitchen.\r\n\r\nThe aprons and oven mitts have also helped students feel more prepared and confident during our cooking labs. We recently used our new supplies during a hands-on cooking activity where students worked in teams to prepare food, practice proper sanitation, and clean their stations from start to finish. Watching students take ownership of their responsibilities and remind one another about safe and sanitary practices was a wonderful classroom moment.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue building on these skills through more hands-on culinary labs. Students will use the lemonade mixes as a starting point for exploring beverages, measurements, recipe development, and flavor combinations while continuing to practice food safety and teamwork. As the year continues, we will challenge students to apply what they have learned by planning, preparing, serving, and cleaning up after complete culinary projects.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping make these experiences possible.
