They really enjoy using all of the materials. The play dough has helped a few of my students strengthen their fine motor skills. Working with this type of manipulative helps to increase mobility in the fingers and allows for students to have a better grip of pencils, scissors and other tools needed to complete assignments in class. When frustrated during the school day, they can use play dough to practice self calming breathing strategies learned at the beginning of the school year. This allow them to self regulate their emotions on their own pace and provides an opportunity for them to quietly return to classroom activities. They are also able to practice concepts learned during Science time, reinforcing push and pull and how matter can change when force is applied. \r\nThe Figet Bands have been a life saver. They help some of my students to be positively distracted when having a hard time controlling their nerves. It also allows for them to play in class without a consequence.
