As this is my first year teaching at this public school, I was a bit taken aback when I saw that my classroom was lacking in certain scientific tools and technology. After Hurricane Irma struck, the teacher budget was very limited. Although my students are dedicated and always ready to learn, I decided that it would be up to me to provide them with the resources badly needed. I requested a class set of scientific calculators and wireless mouses so that they can work on the computers while completing assignments that require mathematical or scientific calculations. The wireless mouses and calculators are portable, so I can secure them daily at the end of the day. The color printer is needed to print handouts and online printables. I needed a color printer so that the handouts would be vibrant, interesting and lifelike. Having the Surface Pro tablet as an instructional aide will allow me to enhance learning as I will be able to remotely present lessons through the smart board. My students will also present using the Surface Pro tablet as the medium.
