As soon as the toys were introduced, students immediately began exploring, creating, pretending, building, and engaging with one another in meaningful ways. From animal figurines and dramatic play food to train tracks and imaginative construction play, these materials encouraged communication, problem-solving, creativity, and social interaction throughout the classroom.\r\n\r\nOne of the most heartwarming moments was watching my students work together to build train tracks, create imaginative worlds with the animals, and engage in pretend play using the food and community figures. Many of my students benefit greatly from hands-on and play-based learning experiences, and these materials provided opportunities for them to practice sharing, taking turns, communicating with peers, and expanding their imagination in ways that traditional instruction alone cannot provide. In true childhood fashion, they even discovered that the cardboard boxes the materials arrived in could become rockets, cars, hiding spots, and imaginative play spaces of their own!\r\n\r\nThese resources have already made a tremendous impact in our classroom environment and will continue to support learning, social development, and creativity every single day. These resources may seem simple, but for our students, they make a tremendous difference in their ability to fully participate in classroom activities and feel confident in their learning environment.\r\n\r\nMy students were incredibly excited when they saw all of the new supplies arrive in our classroom. Something as small as having their own fresh pencil or colorful highlighter instantly motivated them and made them eager to participate in lessons and activities. The paint sticks quickly became a favorite during hands-on projects, allowing students to express their creativity while building fine motor and academic skills. Having an abundance of printer paper and classroom materials will allow me to create more adapted activities, visual supports, and individualized resources to better meet the unique needs of my students.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped create a more engaging, organized, and supportive classroom environment where students can focus on learning and growing. While this project didn't bring in traditional \"technology\" like tablets or devices, the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card has allowed me to access a wide range of digital, teacher-created resources that I can instantly download, customize, and print for my class. This means I can quickly provide targeted phonics intervention, leveled reading passages, scaffolded math centers, and social-emotional learning activities without waiting weeks to create everything from scratch. The laminating sheets and sheet protectors have transformed these materials into durable, reusable tools that students can use again and again during centers and small-group instruction.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting for my students is how interactive and engaging the new materials are. The phonics games, hands-on math practice, and colorful task cards feel more like activities than \"work.\" Because the materials are matched to their exact skill level, students are experiencing success more often and that has made a huge difference in their confidence. They especially love the reusable laminated games and wipe-clean activities, which give them the freedom to practice without the fear of making mistakes.\r\n\r\nSome of my students who previously struggled with attention or avoided challenging tasks have shown the greatest growth. When activities are broken down step-by-step and presented visually and in color, they are more willing to participate and persist. I've seen students proudly ask to redo a center to \"beat their score\" or master a skill. My returning student, however, immediately glanced at the side wall and said, \"We got a new bookshelf... the other one broke last year.\" He remembered exactly what happened when our old shelf was damaged by water and did not survive it. My new students did not react the same way because they had never seen the previous bookshelf, but the added structure has already helped them settle in and move through routines more independently.\r\nWe have already put everything to good use. Since all my students rely on paper-based accommodations, I spend a lot of time printing reading passages, homework packets, math topic tests, science and social studies interactive journal pages, IEP goal sheets, and differentiated work. With ongoing budget cuts across the district, schools are limiting copies, and the paper and ink from this project came at exactly the right time. I am not rationing materials, and my students can access what their IEPs require without barriers.\r\nThe new bookcase has kept our classroom organized and structured. I previously had a similar bookshelf, but it broke after last year's water damage. Having this new one in place restored the level of organization my students depend on. Each shelf and drawer has a clear purpose, such as storing graded work, assignments by subject and grade level, different types of paper, labels, stamps, and stickers. This makes it easy for both the students and me to locate what we need. During our most recent math i-Ready growth monitoring check, one of my students walked to the drawer, grabbed a sheet of paper to show his work, and started solving without any prompting. For him, that level of independence is a big win and a clear sign that the organization system is helping him feel more confident.\r\nRight now, we are focusing on helping students grow in reading comprehension and math problem-solving. The new supplies have made it much easier to stay organized behind the scenes. For the students I work with, it is essential that materials are ready to go the moment we need them. When things are not prepared or organized, it can create chaos and make it harder for them to stay focused and feel secure. With routines in place and materials easily accessible, our next steps involve encouraging students to take more ownership of their work and helping them take pride in what they complete.\r\nThank you for giving us the tools that keep our classroom running smoothly, especially during a year when resources are tighter than ever. Your generosity has made a real difference in my students' daily learning and their confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1753396233978,"projectUrl":"project/shelf-help-organizing-success-one-drawe/9384857/","projectTitle":"Shelf Help: Organizing Success One Drawer at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rodriguez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2081229_orig.png?crop=245,245,x0,y7&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751307175277","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2081229"},{"teacherId":5424752,"projectId":9397562,"letterContent":"I want to express my deepest gratitude for your generous support of our classroom through DonorsChoose. The addition of our new color printer has truly transformed the way my students experience and engage with art. While many people are familiar with technology in daily life, few realize how profoundly it can enhance creative learning when used intentionally in the classroom. Before this gift, our only option was an aging black-and-white printer that limited the depth of our visual references. Now, students have access to vivid, high-quality reproductions of famous artworks, textiles, prints, and design examples that bring our lessons to life.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is being able to see and touch the artwork—something that feels increasingly rare in our digital age. Holding a color print of a Van Gogh painting or a contemporary artist's mixed-media piece allows them to study brushwork, color relationships, and texture in a tangible way. This has sparked richer discussions, more accurate observations, and deeper artistic connections. Students are learning not just by seeing art projected on a screen, but by interacting with it directly.\r\n\r\nThis new resource has been especially impactful for my students with disabilities, who often benefit from having physical, individualized materials they can examine up close. But it has uplifted all learners, helping them find inspiration, confidence, and joy in their creative process. Your generosity has not only supplied a tool—it has opened a window into the colorful, textured world of art-making and appreciation.
