Because of your kindness, my students had access to engaging, hands-on VersaTile math kits that transformed the way they practiced and reviewed essential math skills during small group instruction. Your donation provided a resource that became a meaningful part of our daily classroom routine and positively impacted student learning throughout the school year.\r\nAs an educator with more than twenty-five years of experience, I have always believed that students learn best when they are actively engaged and given opportunities to practice skills in a variety of ways. The VersaTile kits quickly became one of my students' favorite learning tools. Instead of viewing math review as another worksheet, they were excited to solve problems independently, check their own work, and challenge themselves to improve. The self-correcting format encouraged perseverance, critical thinking, and confidence while helping students take ownership of their learning.\r\nThese resources were especially valuable during small group instruction, one of the most important components of our daily math block. While I worked with small groups of students who needed additional support or enrichment, the rest of the class remained actively engaged in meaningful, standards-based practice. This allowed me to maximize instructional time, provide targeted instruction where it was needed most, and ensure every student remained focused on learning. Having dependable, low-preparation materials also allowed me to spend more time analyzing student progress and planning effective lessons rather than creating additional review activities.\r\nAs the year progressed, I saw students become more confident in their mathematical thinking. They were eager to discuss strategies with classmates, explain their reasoning, and celebrate their successes. The VersaTile kits reinforced concepts taught during whole-group instruction while providing students with another opportunity to master essential skills in an engaging, hands-on way. Students who were once hesitant to participate became more willing to take academic risks because they felt successful using these interactive materials.\r\nOur students also demonstrated strong learning gains on Florida's end-of-year state assessments. While student achievement is always the result of many factors, including dedicated teachers, supportive families, student effort, and quality instruction, the VersaTile kits served as an important instructional resource that reinforced essential standards and supported consistent practice throughout the year. Every student's growth contributes to our school's overall learning gains, helping us maintain the high expectations and academic excellence that have kept our school proudly recognized as an \"A\" rated school.\r\nPerhaps the greatest gift you provided was the opportunity for students to enjoy learning. Your generosity reminded my students that people they have never met believe in them and care about their success. That message is just as valuable as the materials themselves. Knowing that someone invested in their education helped students feel encouraged, supported, and proud of their accomplishments.\r\nBecause of your support, these VersaTile kits will continue to benefit students for years to come. Hundreds of children will strengthen their math skills, build confidence, and experience the satisfaction of successful, independent learning using the resources you made possible. On behalf of all of my students, thank you for believing in the power of education and for investing in their future. Your generosity has made a lasting difference in our classroom, and we are sincerely grateful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1660511024888,"projectUrl":"project/engaging-screen-free-alternative-to-mat/6624922/","projectTitle":"Engaging, Screen-Free Alternative to Math Skills Practice","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Concepcion","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4868582_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1512248025273","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/c-concepcion"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_45867","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1140,"numTeachers":65,"percentFrplEligible":33,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":19,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":69,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"17.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":82.8,"schoolId":45867,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Air Base K-8 Center for International Education on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Air Base K-8 Center for International Education","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/miami-dade-county-public-schools/air-base-elementary-school/45867"}
