Using the weekly newsletters from the STEMTastic News Project allowed me to teach language arts standards in an engaging and fresh way. For example, I could teach determining the central idea and key details using short, colorful and interesting articles as a scaffold for students who would otherwise be overwhelmed struggling to read the longer text provided in the general curriculum.\r\n\r\nThe students loved all of the scientific topics which allowed us to springboard into great, animated discussions.
