Your contributions have given my students the opportunity to work with materials typically reserved for college-level courses. There are many talented young artists in Hillsborough County, and as a teacher, I strive every day to nurture their creativity and support their individual paths.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has allowed me to provide my students with resources that I was fortunate to have while growing up in my small town. I was blessed with two incredibly supportive art teachers and dedicated sports coaches throughout my high school years, and I want every child to have the same opportunities that I had in upstate New York. Unfortunately, our art budget is only $4.75 per student—barely enough to buy a sketchbook.\r\n\r\nDespite these challenges, I am committed to showcasing my students' talents. As a first-year art teacher, I have already submitted their work to two exhibitions. In one competition among eight neighboring schools, my students placed 2nd, 3rd, and received an honorable mention. Many of my students didn't even realize they were artists when they first stepped into my classroom, and watching them grow in confidence and skill has been incredibly rewarding.\r\nI am so proud of them, and I want to continue encouraging and uplifting them as much as possible. Your support and generosity mean the world to us. Thank you for believing in my students and for making a real difference in their artistic journey.\r\n\r\nMy Best,\r\nApril McMillion","fullyFundedDate":1733709273958,"projectUrl":"project/coloring-creativity-supporting-student/8992554/","projectTitle":"Coloring Creativity: Supporting Student Artists in Ceramics","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McMillion","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9608219_orig.jpg?crop=640,640,x0,y85&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721961648541","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9608219"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_126180","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2300,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":32,"percentWhite":18,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":42,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.3,"schoolId":126180,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sumner High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sumner High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/hillsborough-county-public-school-district/summer-high-school/126180"}
