Students love having the option to sit on the floor, move around, and choose a comfortable spot while they work. The standing desks have also been a fan favorite, giving students who need to stand, move, or change positions throughout the day another option besides sitting at a traditional desk.\r\n\r\nThe tennis balls for our chair legs may seem like a small addition, but they make a big difference! They help protect our floors while making it easier and quieter for students to move their chairs.\r\n\r\nWe also use the flexible bands on the legs of desks so students can gently bounce their feet or fidget while they work. This gives students who need a little movement something appropriate to do with their hands or feet while still staying engaged with their learning.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these donations send our students the message that their comfort, needs, and success matter. Being able to offer different seating and movement options helps us create a classroom where students can focus, learn, and feel comfortable being themselves.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our classroom and helping us make it a place where every student has a chance to learn in the way that works best for them. These supplies have already made such a meaningful difference for our students and have helped us keep our classroom cleaner, healthier, and more comfortable.\r\n\r\nOur students love being able to ask for a cleaning wipe and clean their desks, especially after they have been sick or when a classmate has been sick. The paper towels have also been incredibly helpful. When a student spills water, they can quickly clean it up without having to leave class and miss valuable instructional time searching for paper towels.\r\n\r\nThe tissues have been an especially big blessing with so many students getting sick. We even had our first bloody nose of the year, and that student wanted to make sure to say thank you too!\r\n\r\nThe hand sanitizer and soap have also been used regularly to help our students keep their hands clean and reduce the spread of germs as much as possible. When the materials arrived, my students were immediately excited and full of questions. They wanted to know how the equipment worked, how energy from the Sun could help support a living ecosystem, and when they would have an opportunity to begin experimenting with it themselves. Their curiosity reminded me exactly why authentic, hands-on science experiences are so important.\r\n\r\nWe are using these resources to develop a classroom aquatic ecosystem powered through renewable energy. Students will investigate how energy is transferred and transformed while observing how water, living organisms, technology, and human choices work together as parts of an interconnected system. As we begin setting up and testing the equipment, students will help make predictions, collect data, monitor the health of the ecosystem, and evaluate how reliably renewable energy can support the project. This gives them an opportunity to connect Earth and space science, ecosystems, sustainability, and engineering in a meaningful way.\r\n\r\nOur next steps will include completing the system setup, establishing baseline measurements, and assigning student teams to monitor water conditions, energy production, and changes within the ecosystem. Students will organize and graph their observations, discuss challenges, and recommend improvements. Because of your generosity, they are not simply reading about renewable energy and environmental stewardship—they are becoming scientists, problem-solvers, and responsible caretakers of a living system.
