Every day my students walk into the classroom and wander around…knowing they have assigned seating, but just not being able to sit there. Not because they don’t want to sit down, but because they just can’t. I’m flexible to a degree. Some sit on the floor, some on the desk. Some walk within an area. ‘Flexible seating’ with a stand-up desk with a swing bar will allow the kid who has to walk and walk and walk to stand up in the back of the class, move his feet and finally concentrate enough to get that concept in math he’s been trying so hard to get. They just need an outlet for their energy and to give them comfort so they can concentrate on these math concepts so that they rise to the potential I know they have THEY just need to be convinced they do. The bouncy ball seats will allow the one’s who are sitting on the floor to maybe sit on the ball seats and be a little more comfortable. Or stay on the floor if they desire. These kids all have IEP’s. Most have ADHD. All have the desire to learn.
