They had a vision to revitalize our existing school garden and were thrilled that their project was chosen and all of the supplies were provided! Almost daily since starting this project they have asked, \"Can we work in the garden?\" It became motivation to complete our subject area work.\r\n \r\nThey worked hard to get to the garden project work not realizing that it was also impactful work contributing to their learning experience in school. They made plans, lists, drew their vision, measured the existing beds, pulled many weeds, planted seeds, painted rocks, researched and designed signs describing the different plants and elements to the new weather station and above all, worked together as a team. \r\n\r\nThe first time we went out to pull weeds they did not look like a polished team. There were disagreements about who should pull and who should hold the bag, how to measure the perimeter of the bed when our tape measure did not go around, and we filled one bag. We met the next morning and discussed strategies for working together and approached the garden beds with a new plan. They worked until time was up with the promise that we would come back. There was one root system from an expired perennial that was particularly hard to pull up with just hands and a hand shovel. When they were ultimately successfull the looks of accomplishment on their faces was priceless. They worked together. They didn't give up. They took turns and applied strategies. I overheard a chant as they made the final pull: \"Three! We have great minds! Two! We won't give up! One! We've got this!\" This is a lesson that they can take with them for every challenge ahead. \r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will tend the plants and plan to invite other classes to tour the newly renovated space and my class will serve as docents, pointing out the different elements and answering questions. I hope that others will be inspired and join in the caretaking and I look forward to using this space with my classes.","fullyFundedDate":1768919165999,"projectUrl":"project/grants-for-great-ideas-oddys-scholars/9997494/","projectTitle":"Grants for Great Ideas: Oddy's Scholars","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Oddy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10399835"},{"teacherId":9428835,"projectId":9615980,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the funding provided to restock our art room with essential supplies, including high-quality paper, yarn, oil pastels, and other foundational materials. These items are the \"bread and butter\" of our daily curriculum, and having a reliable, fresh stock allows our students to explore their creativity without the constraint of limited resources. Before this grant, we often had to ration specific materials; now, every student has the freedom to fully immerse themselves in the artistic process.\r\n\r\nThe impact of these supplies has been immediate. The oil pastels have introduced a vibrant new dimension of color blending to our current projects, while the yarn has sparked a massive interest in fiber arts and tactile sculpture. Seeing a student's face light up when they realize they have the \"good paper\" to work on—paper that doesn't tear or bleed through—is a testament to how much these quality materials validate their hard work. You haven't just provided supplies; you've provided a sense of professional dignity to our classroom environment.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in the arts and for recognizing that even the simplest tools can be the catalyst for a child's greatest breakthrough. Because of your generosity, our art room remains a space of limitless possibility where students feel empowered to take risks and express themselves.","fullyFundedDate":1758114286089,"projectUrl":"project/grants-for-great-ideas-stem-sparks-crea/9615980/","projectTitle":"Grants for Great Ideas: STEM Sparks Creativity","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hayes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9428835_orig.jpg?crop=1501,1501,x473,y2530&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1705184432769","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9428835"},{"teacherId":9428835,"projectId":9504812,"letterContent":"Because of your support, our art room has undergone a vibrant transformation. In a world dominated by digital screens, your contribution has allowed my students to get their hands dirty while exploring the intersection of nature and creativity.\r\n\r\nThe hydroponics tower has become the \"living centerpiece\" of our classroom. Students aren't just looking at pictures of plants; they are responsible for them. We are currently using the tower to bridge the gap between biological structures and artistic form. My older students are practicing detailed botanical illustrations, focusing on the complex vein structures of the leaves, while my younger artists are learning about life cycles through weekly \"observation sketches.\"\r\n\r\nWhen the tower first arrived and the grow lights flickered on, the reaction was pure magic. There were gasps of \"It looks like a spaceship!\" and \"Are we really growing food in the art room?\" They loved to check the progress each time they entered! For many of my students, who may not have access to a garden at home, it immediately turned the art room into a laboratory of curiosity.","fullyFundedDate":1757502125169,"projectUrl":"project/grants-for-great-ideas-the-art-of-growt/9504812/","projectTitle":"Grants for Great Ideas: The Art of Growth","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hayes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9428835_orig.jpg?crop=1501,1501,x473,y2530&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1705184432769","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9428835"},{"teacherId":9428835,"projectId":9317354,"letterContent":"The donation of the Chompsaws and cardboard has had a significant impact on my elementary art program.
