The multicultural STEAM books in this project will be used in the classroom as read alouds to spark ideas for a STEAM challenge, to inspire students to follow their dreams, to keep students engaged and excited about STEAM, and provide reading material with characters my gifted students can relate to. Some of the book titles such as "One Plastic Bag: Isatou Ceesay and the Recycling Women of the Gambia" have been chosen to tie STEAM into our world geography unit of study. These books will allow me to combine reading, writing, creative and critical thinking, and STEAM into lessons that also teach about other cultures.
