I've been using it to print labels, signs, and images for our dramatic play area, and most recently we created a construction site center. Having bright, colorful visuals makes the space feel more real and engaging for preschool students, which encourages creativity, role-playing, and problem-solving skills. Without the color printer, everything would have been in black and white, which is much less exciting and doesn't hold the attention of young learners.\r\n\r\nMy students were immediately excited when they saw the colorful images and labels for the center. They loved exploring the construction site, pretending to build and collaborate, and using the printed materials to guide their play. A few students in particular, who are usually shy or hesitant to participate in dramatic play, have really warmed up to this center. They are now more confident taking on roles, following directions, and interacting with classmates because the visuals make the experience clear and inviting.\r\n\r\nThis technology has transformed our dramatic play area into a vibrant learning space that sparks curiosity, imagination, and social-emotional development every day!","fullyFundedDate":1766067030053,"projectUrl":"project/print-it-teach-it-learn-it/9655387/","projectTitle":"\"Print It, Teach It, Learn It!\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Barbour","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9691673_orig.jpg?crop=948,948,x0,y347&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724165270072","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9691673"},{"teacherId":9691673,"projectId":9635816,"letterContent":"Our classroom has been putting the new resources to great use! And the paint has added so much fun and creativity to our art projects!\r\n\r\nOne moment that really stood out was during a painting activity. The students were so excited to use the new paints—they experimented with mixing colors and creating their own designs. Seeing their faces light up with pride over their creations was a joy, and they were careful to help keep the space clean using the wipes and gloves.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate—they loved having new tools to explore and felt proud to use them responsibly.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue using these resources to support both learning and independence. After having a quick breakfast in the classroom, I noticed a complete shift—they were more alert, engaged, and ready to participate in our morning activities. Moments like this truly show how important it is to meet students' basic needs first so they can be successful learners.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the snacks, they were excited and grateful. They also were so excited that they attempted to open the package. I took the plastic off, unrolled the carpet and had it ready for them to sit on the next day they arrived at school. They were thrilled! \r\n\r\nWe are going to take good care of this carpet because it is a part of our classroom environment. Two of the six have significant behavior challenges and working through their emotions is key to getting them back on track. Having the opportunity for a student or students to go to an area away from other students where they feel safe has been a game changer. One of the students is extremely frightened when the behaviors happen, he frequently uses is AAC communication device to let me know he is scared and needs a break. This space gives him the opportunity to relax and calm his nerves.\r\n For the students that do not display behaviors this area has become their safe haven during some of our most intense behavior challenges. With the recent changes in the Department of Education, schools across the country have experienced major financial cuts. What does that look for our youngest learners? A lack of supplies and cleaning products to keep our classrooms sanitary. However, because of your kindness, I am able to provide my students with art supplies to express their creativity, and a clean and hygienic environment, which is essential for the overall health and well-being of every child.\r\n\r\nEach month students have thoroughly enjoyed using the art supplies you have blessed them with to create themed bulletin boards and artwork. Seeing their art posted on hallway bulletin boards each morning as they enter the room, brings so much joy and inspiration to them. They are so proud to show their families each day what they have created. This is yet another example of how your generosity has boosted their confidence and self-esteem.\r\n\r\nAs the season is changing, this is the time when students get sick the most and spread germs throughout the classroom. While several classes this year were faced with multiple students out due to sickness, I am proud to say that the majority of my class have avoided getting ill. Having access to a variety of cleaning materials allowed for more frequent and thorough cleaning practices! When we received our classroom supplies, students were thrilled to learn what supplies we received and how we use them to create a healthy environment. This gift allowed us to have a really fun discussion about the importance of being clean and helped my students to ensure that they take care of their hygiene.\r\n\r\nHaving access to cleaning supplies has enabled me to use teachable moments to expose students to the purpose of cleaning supplies and how we use them. From potty accidents to spills during lunch, PreK scholars have learned self-help skills that boosts their self- confidence. What a joy it is to hear students say things like \"I can do it\", \"I can wipe it up\", \"I can change myself\". The thrill in students' eyes while taking the paper towels to clean the table and putting on their own pull up during potty training is an awesome sight to see. It is because of you, Walker- Jones PreK scholars have been empowered with the ability to take care of themselves. Even though cleaning up spills or putting on their own pull up may seem like a small task, these small accomplishments increase their social emotional skills which is the foundation of students' educational journey.\r\n\r\nI cannot thank you enough for opening your heart to the children of Walker- Jones. It warms my heart to know that despite what is happening to our education system, people still care and want to see our youngest scholars succeed. I have to give 150% of myself each and every day in order for the magic to happen, and having financial assistance so they can walk into a beautiful, bright, well-prepared, orderly, well-stocked, intentional and specifically curated classroom is priceless. \r\n\r\nI don't like tooting my own horn, but my students are ranked at #1 for the highest CAPE scores in our entire school!
