Each morning, students choose a regulation option that helps them feel ready to learn—some use the trampoline for grounding movement, others take a calming moment in the spinning chair, and several settle onto the soft rug before we begin morning meeting. One particularly meaningful moment happened during a literacy lesson when a student who often struggles to stay focused used the vibrating pillow while reading. With that support, he remained engaged for the entire activity and proudly contributed to our discussion. These tools aren't just equipment—they're helping students access learning with confidence and joy.\r\n\r\nTheir excitement was incredible. Students immediately gravitated toward the rug, feeling its texture and stretching out on it with smiles. When the spinning chair was unboxed, one student exclaimed, \"Is this really for us?\"—and another eagerly asked if they could help assemble it. In fact, several students jumped in to help put together both the trampoline and the swing chair, turning it into a collaborative, pride-filled moment. Once everything was ready, the trampoline became an instant favorite. Their reactions made it clear that they felt seen and supported.\r\n\r\nNow that students have these vital sensory supports, our next steps focus on building independence with emotional regulation during academic tasks. We're practicing how to identify which tool their body needs during reading, math, and writing workshops, and when to use the calm corner routine we've built around the rug, swing chair, fidgets, and oral sensory tools. Students are learning how to choose a tool, regulate safely, and then rejoin their work with focus and confidence. These resources are helping us move closer to our long-term goal: empowering students to understand their sensory needs, advocate for themselves, and thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.","fullyFundedDate":1764790330118,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-calming-and-safe-space-for-my/9712736/","projectTitle":"Creating a Calming and Safe Space for my Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Padilla","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9772123_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757779275732","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9772123"},{"teacherId":9285856,"projectId":8299844,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of additional supplies to John Francis Education Campus. Your thoughtfulness and continued support have had a powerful and immediate impact on our students, teachers, and entire school community.\r\n\r\nThe highlighters you provided truly brought our lessons to life. In our non-fiction reading units, students were excited to actively engage with texts as they searched for key details, identified main ideas, and made important connections. Something as simple as a highlighter became a tool for confidence, focus, and participation, helping students feel successful and motivated in their learning. These moments of engagement are essential in building strong literacy skills and fostering a love of reading.\r\n\r\nBeyond the classroom instruction, the extra supplies played a vital role in helping our students settle into the new school year. Many of our students face challenges that extend beyond the classroom, and having access to the proper materials helps create a sense of stability, preparedness, and belonging. Because of your generosity, students were able to start the year feeling equipped, supported, and ready to learn alongside their peers.\r\n\r\nYour donation also provided meaningful support to our teachers, allowing them to focus more fully on instruction rather than worrying about limited resources. When classrooms are well supplied, teachers can plan more engaging lessons, meet the diverse needs of their students, and create learning environments where every child has the opportunity to thrive. Your contribution has strengthened our ability to do just that.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, your support sends a powerful message to our students: that they are valued, that their education matters, and that there are people beyond our school walls who care deeply about their success. This encouragement makes a lasting impression and inspires students to take pride in their work and their school community.\r\n\r\nWe are truly grateful for your continued partnership and commitment to John Francis Education Campus. Your kindness and generosity have made a meaningful difference in the daily experiences of our students, and the impact of your support will be felt throughout the school year and beyond.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our students, our teachers, and our school. The stickers are great rewards for them. \r\n\r\nThe pens have been useful when marking up their passages during annotations for comprehension.
