In The Universe unit, we learned about the solar system, planets, went to the Air and Space Museum and received a special delivery from NASA! The globe we received helped us understand how the earth rotates and how we experience seasons. When we learned about the Space Race, the new globe showed us where the former Soviet Union was located and how it is now called Russia. Lastly, the globe continues to be a resource we use daily as we learn about different countries and contents.\r\n The Process of Discovery is a unit where students learn about various inventors, innovators and inventions. The 10 books titled \"Black Inventors-15 Inventions That Changed the World\" we received, augmented our discussions and expanded our knowledge of the types of inventions that have been made by Black people over the centuries. This book served as an additional resource for students during Black History Month as we discussed contributions these inventors have made to our daily lives as well as to history. Students enjoyed reading about past and current inventors and our curriculum is more specialized with this significant book!\r\n The biggest addition to our classroom was the white board which has met multiple needs. We use it daily to write vocabulary words, show our understanding of unit concepts and improve our literacy through paragraph and essay classwork. The fact that it is has two sides allows students to use one for practice or lesson review and the other side for new material/content. It's moveable, adjustable and exactly what our classroom needed to upgrade our learning environment.","fullyFundedDate":1736435077790,"projectUrl":"project/continents-and-constellations-at-our-fin/9033894/","projectTitle":"Continents and Constellations at Our Fingertips-learning History and the Universe!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. A","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9888249"},{"teacherId":3081167,"projectId":9040273,"letterContent":"My students and I are so grateful for your generosity. The DC weather has been very hot and cold lately; which, makes cold and flu season even more tricky than usual. Since receiving our materials, students have been less sick, as evidenced by improved attendance. We have been able to wipe students' desks down daily with the sanitizing wipes which has contributed to the reduced spread of germs. We have gone through four boxes of tissues from this project and have plenty left to last us through the school year! Students also have enough hand sanitizer for the rest of the school year. In the unlikely event that we run out of hand sanitizer, we have plenty of soap from this project as well! \r\n\r\nThank you for keeping us safe from germs so that we can all show up ready to learn at school!","fullyFundedDate":1738001603010,"projectUrl":"project/fighting-cold-flu-season/9040273/","projectTitle":"Fighting Cold & Flu Season!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Marsie-Hazen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3081167_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1536706075709","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ehazen"},{"teacherId":9742738,"projectId":8763716,"letterContent":"We are thrilled to share that we are building our first-ever studio, which will serve as a creative hub for our students and the local community. Starting next week, we're launching our inaugural Artist in Residence program, working alongside talented local artists and producers to inspire and guide our students.\r\n\r\nHow is the technology helping your students learn?\r\nTechnology has completely transformed the way our students approach music education. Using tools like digital audio workstations, virtual instruments, and recording equipment, students are able to explore composition, sound design, and storytelling in ways that weren't possible before. This hands-on approach allows them to experiment with ideas, iterate on their work, and collaborate with peers—all skills that extend far beyond the music classroom.\r\n\r\nWhat about the new product is most exciting to your students?\r\nOur students are most excited about the creative possibilities the studio will bring. Having access to professional-grade equipment and guidance from local artists will empower them to produce music that reflects their individuality and ideas. They're especially eager to learn more about mixing, mastering, and producing music that could be shared with a wider audience. The studio is not just a space—it's a gateway to opportunities they've only dreamed of.\r\n\r\nAre there particular students who have especially warmed to this new technology, and how so?\r\nYes! One student, in particular, has taken a keen interest in sound design, using the digital audio workstation to create soundscapes that tell unique stories. Another student, who was initially shy about sharing their ideas, has found their voice through recording and layering tracks, creating music that resonates with their peers. These technologies have not only unlocked their creativity but also built their confidence in ways we hadn't anticipated.","fullyFundedDate":1729311726073,"projectUrl":"project/music-studio-music-education-program-6/8763716/","projectTitle":"Music Studio - Music Education Program 6-12","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Collins","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9742738"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_25380","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":442,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":73,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":67,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":31,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":36.7,"schoolId":25380,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Browne Education Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Browne Education Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/district-of-columbia/dc-public-schools/browne-educational-center/25380"}
