My students have been been very engaged by the new materials. They are learning vocabulary, figurative language, and how to support their ideas with text evidence. I work with students in relatively short spurts of about 30 minutes, and some of that time is lost to the need to transition the students to the new work area and establish the activity. I love to work with whole stories, but they typically don't fit into the allotted time. The new materials that your donation made possible give the students bite-sized pieces to work with, and we can fit several into each work session.\r\nIn addition, my students who are Deaf or hard of hearing now have materials needed to ensure their hearing aids are working while they work on language and literacy skills!
