In my world, reading is the backbone that holds my Social Studies classroom together. As an avid reader myself, I never miss an opportunity to expose my students with literature from all genres. Our classroom content focuses on students learning about cultures from around the world...what better way to do that than to immerse them in literature? We are, what I consider to be, an "up/down" classroom. We are rarely in our seats and constantly writing, reading, connecting and learning in all areas of the classroom. I feel that by allowing students to work in a comfy spot, it gives them the freedom of choice as well as shows an improved quality of work. One word I use to describe my teaching is passionate. I am passionate about building better readers, I am passionate about my love of literature, but most importantly I am passionate about learning. There is no better profession than the one I have.#lovemyjob
