My students are medically complex and have severe disabilities that impact their involvement, participation, and engagement within the classroom. Instruments, reading materials, and art provide my students with a way to access the curriculum and school environment in ways that might otherwise be challenging. My students were able to have choice in read alouds with our chapter book resources and in turn use books of their interest to work on reading comprehension skills as well as on topic commenting using their communication devices. Students were also able explore color mixing and art projects with some of the additional resources and paper. The musical instruments provided students with a way to engage with music in the classroom. They even were able to use the instruments to make a sound to indicate they heard a key vocabulary or core word of the week. \r\nThe resources and materials put smiles on my students' faces.
