The students in our school are medically fragile and have multiple disabilities. We will be teaching them at home until their families feel comfortable sending them to school. The materials in this project will help us make virtual learning as successful as possible.
Because of our students visual impairments, it is very important that we can see them and they can see us. The monitor will allow us to see our students more clearly as they use their body movements to communicate with us. While the monitor helps us see them more clearly, the computer stand will help them see us. It will bring our camera to a level where they will only see our face, this will reduce the amount of visual clutter on the screen.
Included in this project are also shapes that are different textures to be dropped off to our students at home. Their family member helping to facilitate instruction will use them for the students to touch/feel and explore. This will allow them to independently make choices by touching the different shapes. We are also asking for black felt boards. These will allow us to hold items/pictures in front of them to highlight them on the camera for our students to see.
