Our students have been able to enjoy nutritious snacks before and after practices and games, helping them stay energized and ready to participate. It has been great to see how excited they are when they see the snacks and how appreciative they are of the support.\r\nWhen the students first received the snacks, they were very excited and grateful. Many of them were eager to choose a snack and enjoyed having healthy options available during the season. It was a great opportunity to remind them about the importance of making healthy choices while staying active.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the baseball season, our students will keep working on their baseball skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and staying healthy and active. The snacks will continue to provide them with an extra boost of energy as they practice and compete. It was definitely a positive moment in my week to receive the email that my project had reached the \"fully funded\" status; it was an even better moment when I received the call from the main office of my high school that my shipment had arrived. I can compare the unboxing moment to a teacher version of Christmas morning.\r\n\r\nThe Spectrum reading books and sight word spelling books have already been in use. From transitioning to only photocopies and worksheets to having their very own workbook to work in, I can already see an ownership of learning in my students. I saw an expression of proudness when I told them they could write their names in the books, that they were theirs to keep and work in. Imagine being in high school and struggling to read, having individual books to work in gives the learning process more depth and importance.\r\n\r\nWhile the reading progress is not perfect, it has been slow and steady.
