Thanks to your thoughtfulness and generosity, our 89 7th graders were able to begin their academic year on the right foot. \r\n\r\n The students are using the whiteboards and color dry erase markers on most days. We began the year with a unit on integer operations and the boards have proved to be super helpful. For example, students work in small groups and use the boards to work out ways to solve the math problems. They love using the boards. \r\n\r\n The facial tissues are used daily and we are already about a third of the way though the box! It was so important to be able to start off the school year with these in our room. Having them to begin the year allowed us to establish great routines and working habits around the use of our headphones. \r\n\r\nMy students are frequently using their headphones in the classroom. In my district we are lucky enough to have devices for our students and many online learning tools to enhance our students' education. Headphones have allowed my students greater access to these platforms in terms of both listening and speaking. These headphones are vital tools for students as they engage in online practice and learning in math, literacy, science, and social studies. My students love getting to use their headphones to watch social studies and science videos on our curriculum platforms. They also like getting use them to listen to read alouds as we work on listening comprehension skills. And, when working on speaking, the microphones included on these headsets allow my students to speak clearly and with confidence as they work on communication skills. \r\n\r\nOverall, these headphones have, without a doubt, enhanced student learning and engagement so far this school year. And, because your generosity supported us in purchasing high-quality headphones that will last, your donation will support my students in these same ways for many years to come. Your contribution has made a meaningful impact on our first graders by providing engaging fine motor activities that are both fun and essential to their development.\r\nFine motor skills are a foundational part of early childhood education. They help children build the strength and coordination needed for everyday tasks like writing, cutting, buttoning, and tying shoes. These skills also support cognitive development, hand-eye coordination, and independence—critical areas for success both in and out of the classroom.\r\nThanks to your donation, our students now have access to materials like lacing cards, tweezers, building blocks, and other hands-on tools that make practicing these skills exciting and enjoyable. I've already seen improvements in their pencil grip, cutting accuracy, and overall confidence. As an itinerant teacher supporting students with CVI, this tool has made a meaningful difference in how I adapt and deliver content.\r\n\r\nWith the ability to modify materials efficiently, I can now create durable, accessible adapted books that meet the unique visual needs of each student. By simplifying visual complexity—such as isolating images against black or high-contrast backgrounds—we help students use their visual channel more effectively.\r\n\r\nBecause students with CVI often lack incidental learning opportunities, they can struggle with concept development. That's why it's so important to bring learning directly to them using multisensory strategies that combine vision, touch, and sound.
