My students enjoy earning a small snack or toy when they complete an assignment, demonstrate great effort, or accomplish a goal. We were studying ecosystems and food webs. This led us to taking a deep dive into food chains. From there we took a close look at the Barn Owl. It was so fun to dissect owls pellets to see what they actually eat! \r\nWe worked with a partner to carefully pull apart the pellet. We then pulled out each tiny bone and compared it to a bone identification chart. This let us know which type of rodent our owl ate. Some of us had more than one!\r\n\r\nWe really enjoy hand on activities like this, it was so exciting! As you can see from the pictures, boy have we been busy. We use dry erase markers daily during our phonics and math instruction as we practice learning to write letters, sight words, numbers and show our math thinking to solve problems. I also make a point to clean those high touch areas that include tables, soap dispensers, sink handles, bathroom door handles and light switches. Let's put it this way, any surface area that we think might need good cleaning gets one!\r\n\r\nThe technology wipes are amazing! Not only do we use them to clean the children's tablets but I also make a point to use them on the promethean board which is a large computer screen that I use while I'm teaching and sometimes share with other teachers. The children love to wipe down their own tablets to help keep the germ population down. I think they enjoy even more washing their hands afterward, singing \"Happy Birthday\" as they scrub their palms, between their fingers and tops of their hands.
