They have had to negotiate play using new language, work on concepts for following directions and explain their thinking while building with peers. After adding Bluey reusable stickers to the task it was much easier to keep his interest! Other students have been practicing their sounds and get a sticker to put on for each time they say a few words with their sound in it. \r\n\r\nWe worked on \"when\" questions with a student for Scaredy Squirrel at Night and \"where\" questions for Bluey's Butterflies. We practiced sorting some of the items into seasons (e.g., pumpkins and turkeys for fall, snowflake stickers and Yetis for winter). \r\n\r\nThe fall hedgehogs were a hit! They encouraged a student that didn't want to work on basic concepts (e.g., first, next, last) and multi-step directions to keep trying so he could add more leaves to his hedgehog! The pumpkins were a fun activity for my students to practice their speech sounds while coloring pieces of their pumpkins. \r\n\r\nMy students really do love crafts and having these as a reward for practicing some trickier skills will really help my students.
