Not only do we have a safe place to store our laptops, students get to practice other skills, too. We practice patience while we wait to get or put away our laptops; we practice number recognition to find the number on the laptop assigned to each student; we practice caring for technology, from unplugging and transporting our laptops to how to put them back in the correct slots in the cart... and then hopefully remembering to plug them in! Even have a class job titled the \"Trusty Techie\" in which that student checks to make sure every laptop is in its slot, plugged in, and read to go for the next day. When we are responsible with our technology, we get the privilege of continuing to use it for our learning. We use the laptops daily for reading and math instruction. \r\n The class has told me repeatedly that they are grateful for the cart, and love recounting all the hard work they did to get it. In case you did not know, the first computer cart we ordered ended up being a scam. The kids were devastated. Then we had the idea to hold a fundraiser for it, and before I knew it, we were planning a whole event! We practiced writing by brainstorming a list of ideas and materials. Our teamwork skills were developed by working in groups to make invites, thank yous, banners, tablecloths, and decorations. In the end, we ran a \"Classroom Cafe\" in which we served our customers either hot cocoa or apple cider. Students had different jobs-- greeters, seaters, order takers, hot cocoa and apple cider pourers, the all-important marshmallowers. Our customers had a QR code that they could scan to donate to our cause. Our class worked hard for a cause and I know this was an event they will never forget!","fullyFundedDate":1763764434382,"projectUrl":"project/organizational-help-for-scammed-first-gr/9894852/","projectTitle":"Organizational Help for Scammed First Grade Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gardner","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10344949"},{"teacherId":10051699,"projectId":9788376,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our Healthy Snacks project at school. Your donations allowed us to provide nutritious food options to our students who are experiencing food insecurity, and the impact has been meaningful and deeply felt.\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness our students had access to healthy snacks they could rely on. This support helped ease daily stress while also reinforcing the importance of nourishment, wellness, and care. Many families shared how grateful they were to have healthy options available for their children, knowing it made a difference in their energy, focus, and overall well being.\r\n\r\nHaving access to healthy snacks at school also plays a critical role in learning. When children are properly nourished, they are better able to concentrate, participate, and stay engaged throughout the day. These snacks helped students feel ready to learn, reduced distractions caused by hunger, and supported a more positive classroom environment for everyone.\r\n\r\nThis project was more than just food. It was a reminder to our families that they are supported and not alone. Because of your kindness, we were able to provide hands-on education and supplies that helped children better understand the importance of taking care of their teeth and overall health.\r\n\r\nYour donations made a real difference. The kids were engaged, excited, and eager to learn proper brushing habits, why oral hygiene matters, and how small daily routines can have a big impact on their confidence and well-being.
