They are so proud to share their work with the new magnets that display their wonderful ideas and great effort. \r\n\r\nIn addition to the hands-on supply tools, the rolling file cart and mailboxes help keep students' finished work organized. While some work is saved and filed in their portfolios, other work is put in their individual cubbies to take home right away. \r\n\r\nFinally, the extra classroom resources are also beneficial. The cleaning and dry erase board wipes help keep the room fresh and clean. The colorful timer promotes positive pacing throughout the day. Students rotate through the space during our Daily 5 literacy rotations, where they work on reading stories, responding to reading, and practicing phonics skills. Having a dedicated, comfortable space has made a huge difference in our Daily 5 literacy rotations and in their overall focus and excitement for reading.\r\n\r\nThanks to these new resources, my students are more engaged and collaborative during reading time. The bookcases have truly helped create a welcoming environment where students feel inspired to learn and read. The students are enjoying using the coins for counting money, rulers for measuring to the inch, clocks for telling time, dice for adding and subtracting games, and the linking cubes for counting! Even the parents have commented on how helpful and fun the materials are to use.\r\n\r\nThe students in all of our second grade classes were excited to get their package of materials to take home early this fall. All the teachers explained to their students how they would be using the different materials when doing their homework. A letter of explanation went to the parents as to how they could use the materials when working with their son or daughter on math activities.\r\n\r\nI can't thank all of you enough. Yes, sometimes the smallest things can make the biggest difference!\r\n In addition to the smaller individual classroom tools, the new electric tools have also been transformative. The new pencil sharpener is so efficient and consistent in providing handy sharp pencils on a daily basis. The standing fan has certainly been a gift to help cool and calm down the students in the heat of the day!
