STEM activities improve student engagement and achievement. Hands-on science motivates and inspires students to reach the rigorous Next Generation Science standards. STEM activities bring the curriculum to life and empower students to think and act like real scientists. Listening to 4th graders moan and groan in disappointment when the bell rings and science is over is music to my ears! Many students often ask to stay in and and continue working on their projects. When learning beats recess, you know you're doing something right. These K'nex science projects are wonderful for small group, student-driven learning. Students take ownership of their learning and grow as citizens as well as students. Science instruction must prepare our children to meet the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century global economy.
