In our early elementary environment, students are incredibly proficient with the touch-screen interfaces of iPads; however, the transition to third grade introduces a significant shift toward Chromebooks, which require a much higher level of keyboarding skill. By providing our class with specialized keyboards and headphones, this project has allowed us to transform our iPads into hybrid workstations. This enables students to begin building the muscle memory and tactile familiarity necessary for the physical keys they will encounter daily in their next grade level.\r\nFurthermore, the headphones provided by this project are essential for the upcoming state testing in third grade, ensuring that students can focus and engage with the auditory components of the assessments. The addition of the new keyboards has also been instrumental in allowing students to practice proper typing skills, better preparing them for the more rigorous writing assignments they will face as they advance in their academic journey.\r\nThank you so much to our wonderful donors for your support. Your generosity has made a lasting impact on my students' confidence and truly prepared them for the exciting challenges of third grade.","fullyFundedDate":1776449530020,"projectUrl":"project/help-my-students-become-writers-through/10190862/","projectTitle":"Help my Students Become Writers through Typing!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hess","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10191817_orig.jpg?crop=854,854,x136,y11&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1776103246755","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10191817"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4648","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":376,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":39,"percentAsian":57,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":2,"percentMultiracialImputed":11,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"22.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":83.1,"schoolId":4648,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Skyline Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Skyline Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/south-san-francisco-unified-school-district/skyline-elementary-school/4648"}
