While I am currently a middle school science teacher, we are ALL Language teachers to our English Language Learners. I model good reading behavior by reading my own books as my students read during this time as well.\r\n\r\nStudents at our school receive a device to use for the school year. Many of my students do not have access to paper books, so they use an app on their devices to read. Our students already spend so much time on their devices that it truly mattered to me to get some paper books into their hands.\r\n\r\nI have had a \"reading corner\" or \"quiet corner\" in my classroom for years, and very few students have used it. This year, however, I have students who love to read in that space, and every week, they ask if they can read in the reading space.\r\n\r\nIt was an exciting day when I introduced our new reading materials to the group. My students pounced on the bins and quickly chose books. One of my students who does not yet speak English was thrilled to have access to a bilingual science book. He smiled for the entire rest of the period. Several students chose chapter books and said, \"I can't wait to read more next week!\"\r\n\r\nThank you for adding to my classroom library, helping to create a learning environment that will benefit my current students as well as students who will join me in the future.","fullyFundedDate":1744250459938,"projectUrl":"project/readers-are-leaders/9229710/","projectTitle":"Readers are Leaders!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lathus","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2128182_orig.jpg?crop=427,427,x8,y51&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1662671354821","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-lathus"},{"teacherId":1572353,"projectId":9060480,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my classroom by providing materials to get us organized.
