By offering rewards for hard work, good behavior, and academic achievement, I can help students build self-confidence and a sense of accomplishment. The items you provided perfectly support this goal by enabling me to offer fun and meaningful incentives that align with my students' interests.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, I am confident that I will be able to foster a dynamic classroom atmosphere that encourages continual effort and improvement. We love our new carpet area, which perfectly matches the camping theme of our classroom. The colors in the carpet are calming, and the cute animals on it make for a relaxing area to meet for many of our classroom activities. We meet every morning on our carpet as a whole group to work on our daily phonemic awareness lessons. Each day during center time, a small group uses the carpet area to work on centers in a comfortable environment. This gets the students out of their traditional chairs, and they can think better when they are comfortable. We also gather on the carpet to read stories, do interactive read aloud lessons, and interactive/shared writing. During Friendship Club, the students also gather on the carpet to talk about feelings and discuss how to solve conflicts and build social-emotional intelligence.\r\n\r\nThe students love their matching color-themed book boxes. Each student has their own book box to store their favorite reads. This helps to maximize reading time, because their books are all ready to go in their boxes, and they do not need to spend precious time looking for books to read. Additionally, the students store their clipboards with science notebooks, as well as their word work activities. This allows me to provide individualized, just right work, so each student can learn at their own level. The book boxes help students to keep their materials organized and eliminates wasted time of looking for their materials. \r\n\r\nDonors such as yourselves, make a huge difference in the educational environment. Students spend a large portion of their days in a classroom, and it is really nice when we can make their classroom feel like a second home. We strive to make the classroom an engaging environment where children can feel safe and engaged to help improve their achievement. The increased enthusiasm that students felt to use these supplies was heartwarming. They gave out a great cheer when I showed them the box of supplies! Even my most neurodivergent students were motivated to complete their other lessons so that they could have \"free station time\". It is such a blessing to have stations that students find fun and engaging, but that they are learning from as well. It was so nice to have station items that all students could access and be able to work on with each other regardless of ability level. Students that don't normally choose to work together were drawn to various stations engaging in problem solving and cooperation.\r\n Students have shown a greater level of focus and task completion using the new tools (stylus pens, new pencils, new erasers, new play dough). We start the year with new supplies, but by this time of year those items are worn and falling a part. It was like a fresh of breath air to have new materials to give to students especially those who are very hard of classroom tools. They are doing better work and working longer on tasks which is a great win! \r\n The stickers are helping to keep that spring fever at bay and to keep students motivated to complete tasks and to challenge themselves to do higher order work.","fullyFundedDate":1739366809213,"projectUrl":"project/spectrum-spectacular/8967719/","projectTitle":"Spectrum Spectacular","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hartsell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5879839_orig.png?crop=322,322,x0,y17&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1559272831341","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5879839"},{"teacherId":6803357,"projectId":8931725,"letterContent":"Thank you for you donation in making this project possible for my students. Each day, my students use these boards to build words, which supports various key aspects of their reading and writing skills. They practice blending sounds, segmenting words, and matching letters to corresponding picture sounds, which helps them understand how letters form words. The hands-on nature of these trays allows for a more engaging and interactive learning experience. My students are excited to use their individual boards, and it's clear that having their own materials makes them feel more connected to their learning.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the magnetic letter tray boards, they were excited. They eagerly dove into using the trays, showing off their ability to form simple words and practicing phonics patterns. The materials have made learning to read and spell feel like a fun challenge rather than a daunting task, boosting their confidence. This excitement has translated into increased participation and enthusiasm during literacy activities.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are excited to take the phonics and phonological skills developed through the magnetic letter trays into reading and writing. Students are beginning to apply their knowledge of letter-sound relationships to decode words while reading and to write sentences with increasing accuracy. The next step is to integrate these skills into more complex tasks, like writing short stories and reading books independently, to help them become confident, independent readers and writers.","fullyFundedDate":1739366809924,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-literacy-skills-with-hands-on/8969109/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Literacy Skills With Hands-on Magnetic Letter Tray Activities","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McVay","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8500667_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y487&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1655413461913","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8500667"},{"teacherId":6803357,"projectId":8546090,"letterContent":"This project has benefitted my students in so many ways. The printer has benefitted my students in so many ways!! The printer has allowed me to print vocabulary cards, sound word walls, diagrams, and real life images. The colorful vocabulary cards greatly enhanced my students' visual learning and made it so much easier for them to remember new words. Students are associating them with real life photos. This has been especially helpful with my English Language Learners. Many of my ELLs are still developing language skills and the color images provide visual cues and context, making it easier for them understand. The real life images also help create a stronger connection, and they can relate to what I am talking about. The printed materials made my lessons more appealing, especially for my learners who rely heavily on visuals to understand new concepts. I'm noticing many students recalling words and are more expressive in their vocabulary usage. I've also printed many materials that are color coded, which allows my students to see the contrast and remember spelling patterns. This has greatly helped improved their spelling! \r\n\r\nWhat's been really cool and exciting for the students is that they are able to print their reports using the color printer. Currently, they are working on a biography research report, and as part of their research, they have to find images. Having the color printer has allowed students to print in color and made their report come to life! They are super proud of their work, and students are happy that they don't have to print in black and white.\r\nAgain, thank you so much for your generous support!!!!","fullyFundedDate":1731940378316,"projectUrl":"project/hot-off-the-press/8652555/","projectTitle":"Hot Off the Press!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nakamura","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7234279_orig.png?crop=310,310,x0,y22&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1589480768760","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7234279"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_78200","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":641,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":39,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":51,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"33.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.3,"schoolId":78200,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lone Star Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lone Star Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/sanger-unified-school-district/lone-star-elementary-school/78200"}
