The students were thrilled to see all the new merchandise and couldn't wait to spend the tickets they had earned through positive behavior, effort, and participation.\r\n\r\nThe store has become a joyful and encouraging part of our classroom community. In science, students created colorful foldables to represent the characteristics of living things and designed \"cell wanted\" posters to showcase their understanding of cell structures and functions. In math, they designed and printed different geometric shapes to explore volume, surface area, and symmetry. In science, they created models of cell parts to better understand how structures relate to their functions. And during free time, students used the printer to make fidget toys—giving them a creative and calming outlet during the day.\r\n\r\nIt has been wonderful to see their pride and curiosity grow as they watch their designs transform from digital models into real objects they can hold and examine. The majority of my students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Most of their families prioritize necessities over school supplies. At the beginning of the year, many students do not have the basic supplies to do their work and I always find myself spending a lot of money buying what they needed. Because of generous donations this year, I didn't have to spend as much of my own money. I was able to give any student any supplies they needed to use in my class and at home. The students are relieved that they don't have to ask their families to purchase supplies for them and they aren't shamed because they cannot afford to purchase them on their own.\r\n\r\nHowever, even with the donations, I still quickly started to run out of supplies and materials to use in my class. Thanks to your generous donation, I was able to refill those supplies and provide the students anything they need. It was a relief not to have to run to the store and get more materials for my students.\r\n\r\nWe will continue to use the supplies for the rest of the year and I anticipate that I will have enough to start my next school year as well. The Bambu multicolor 3D printer is going to bring the concepts I am teaching to life and make learning math, coding, and science more engaging and hands-on. \r\n\r\nAlthough I've only had a for a short time, I've already started experimenting with it and looking for ideas on how to use it with my students. For an upcoming unit on DNA, I've printed some 3D models of the double helix to demonstrate how the different proteins bond together. I will also be creating some models where the students will build DNA strands with protein pairs. They'll get to learn why only certain proteins can pair together. \r\n\r\nTeaching about the cell is also a big part of my curriculum and can be a hard concept to learn. I've started to print a buildable cell model so students can learn about the organelles. Completing the cell model while learning about the organelles will help the students remember the functions of the organelles more easily.\r\n\r\nIn the future, I hope to find ways to have the students design their own materials to aid their learning.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your donation!","fullyFundedDate":1733252999019,"projectUrl":"project/engaging-students-in-math-science-and/8979360/","projectTitle":"Engaging Students in Math, Science, and Coding With 3d Printing","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp38844_orig.png?crop=1256,1256,x0,y159&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1565225853928","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsannagin"},{"teacherId":9766345,"projectId":8804485,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your contributions to our classroom!
