Eyes read gasps and students tensed, this main character wasn't just on the page of their books, a part of her lived within each and every one of my students as they read about her struggles to fit in with her peers and they each felt her pain. My students jumped out of their seats, shocked to read Jason professing his feelings for Mia. Happy tears and joy filled the room when Mia and her chosen family became owners of the Calavista Motel. Groans filled the room every afternoon at 12:45 p.m. when I closed my book under the document camera after the close of a chapter or two. Mia's story of courage, advocacy, love of family, and friendship stirred up my classroom every day. They all got to experience so many emotions including excitement, hope, empathy, fear, wonder, and triumph. Upon the end of the book, the students needed a moment to process all the good that came from reading together as one. Many asked if I could buy the next book in the series, The Three Keys. I had no choice, I had to. All of you played an immense role in turning some of my most reluctant readers into voracious students of the written word. Thank you for giving them this experience of leaving their 5th grade year learning how magical it is to hold a book in their hands and truly love a book.","fullyFundedDate":1770577136639,"projectUrl":"project/be-our-book-hero/10063158/","projectTitle":"Be our Book Hero!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Michelle Pampo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp144461_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y14&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722213915385","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-pampo"},{"teacherId":4020554,"projectId":8475231,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donations. Our students have been thrilled to use the new materials. The alcohol markers, gel pens, and coloring books that reflect their hobbies and interests have made our club even more special. Each week, students gather to relax, connect with friends, and express their creativity through art.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students eagerly opened the boxes and began exploring the new materials. One student said, \"These look so professional!\" Another could not wait to find a page that matched her favorite Kawaii character style. It has been wonderful to see how these resources have inspired creativity, pride, and collaboration.\r\n\r\nWord has spread quickly about all the new materials, and our club has grown even more popular. We now have new members joining each week who want to be part of the fun and creativity. Our next step is to create a gallery of finished pages that highlight each student's unique style and interests. This display will help build community and show how art can connect us in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping make our Coloring Club a place where creativity, confidence, and friendship grow.
