My students have already enjoyed utilizing the art supplies to express themselves by creating Mini Mindful Movement people. My students are able to take these Mini Mindful Movement people home, where they can help them model different yoga poses for when they would like a moment to calm down. This would not have been possible without your donation that allowed us to receive various supplies such as pipe cleaners, pom-poms, feathers and stickers. When they first saw the materials, they were overjoyed, and they all immediately began asking for specific colors and to be a helper to pass the materials out so we could begin the project quicker. \r\n\r\nIn future lessons, I plan to provide students with the opportunity to self-regulate through art with the materials your generous donation allowed us to buy. We will utilize the materials in a mindfulness lesson to help the students create sensory stimuli. The writing folder is where students keep writing resources that they access daily when writing in class and at home to complete assignments. These folders help organize the resources that they use for the different types of writing. The home communication folder goes back and forth daily and is where students keep important information needed at home and school. These red and green folders are great quality and will endure the back and forth and daily use of a 3rd grader.\r\nThe headphones are awesome! Our school will sometimes give us earbuds for students to use. They are uncomfortable, don't fit well and don't last long. These headphones are needed daily for independent work and to complete assessments. Students can concentrate better when they are comfortable.\r\nWe use white boards daily! It is so nice for each student to have their own white board eraser. Many of my students have limited access to personal art materials, so having their very own sketchbooks has given them a sense of ownership and pride in their work.\r\n\r\nOne of our first projects using these supplies was a self-portrait exploration. The students experimented with collage and oil pastels to blend colors. The variety of skin-colored construction paper allowed them to choose a base that truly reflected their unique features, making their artwork feel even more personal and meaningful.
