We read books on the different animals found in the different habitats. We showed videos and had students practice drawing the animals on the white boards with the dry erase markers. It made the science lessons come to life with interactive activities. The activities for this unit can be used with different science units. For example, if we are learning about weather, we can make rain drops and clouds. Learning for the young Transitional Kinder students is all about using their five senses. Feeling, touching, smelling, seeing and hearing. My students were able to create robots and code the actions which brought the robots to life. My students enjoyed Monday's STEAM Lab so they could build and code their projects. \r\nWatching the student's faces light up once the robot came to life was wonderful. The coding experience was very exciting. Students were able to change the colors and The the robot moves because of the iPad.\r\nThe coding empowered quiet students because they were able to control the robots on their own. I explained to them what we would do with the supplies and they showed excitement.\r\n\r\nThe heart stickers were used to make Valentine Cards for their family and for classmates. Peeling off the white backside of the valentines, help the students with their fine motor skills. Peeling the heart stickers and sticking them onto cards also helps their fine motor skills. The stickers can be used for many art activities. The balls that we received are for the gross motor skills. Students are able to throw and kick the balls using their arms and legs. They enjoy playing with the balls at recess.\r\n\r\nWe will be making cards for Mother's Day and the students will use stickers. The stickers can be used for many arts and crafts activities. In the spring we will use the foam butterfly templates. We will learn about spring and decorate them with other art supplies we have in the classroom. We write our sight words of the week daily and practice writing math problems at least 3 times a week. \r\n\r\nThe day we received the whiteboards, my students were excited to start writing on the lines. I was able to quickly and easily guide students to form the letters correctly. The book bins are used during center time at least 3 times a week.
