Because of your generosity, our youngest learners now have engaging, hands-on materials that make learning feel like play. The storytelling glove and felt board have brought stories to life, helping students build language skills, imagination, and confidence as they retell and create their own tales. Our alphabet sets, Wiki Stix alphabet builders, and rhyming puzzles have made early literacy exciting and interactive, allowing students to explore letters, sounds, and word patterns in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nYour donation has also strengthened our math and social-emotional learning experiences. The burger sequence stacker and comparing sizes activity box have helped students develop critical thinking, sequencing, and problem-solving skills while working together and practicing patience. These playful activities naturally encourage collaboration, communication, and perseverance—important SEL skills at this age. Additionally, the TPT gift card allowed me to bring in even more targeted literacy and SEL resources to meet the diverse needs of my students.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our classroom is filled with joy, curiosity, and meaningful learning opportunities every day. Your kindness is making a lasting impact by helping build strong foundations in literacy, math, and social-emotional growth. They have been a staple during our daily morning read aloud. We love our picture books and we get so excited when we read a new book. We are even reading some of them on our own now! Our library is growing thanks to you and we will continue to care and love our books! We thank you so so much!\r\n\r\nOur favorite book is \"There Was an Old Lady\". We love the books so much that our teacher is buying us the whole collection so we can read every book during our morning read aloud or when we read independently. My students now have the freedom to choose where they learn best. One memorable moment was during our morning meeting, where students used different seating areas to form a circle to celebrate a students birthday. They felt comfortable giving compliments and listening to each other, and the quality of their ideas and participation really showed it.\r\n\r\nThe excitement was contagious! As soon as they walked in and saw the new seating, there were gasps, wide eyes, and lots of \"Can I try that one?\" The room immediately buzzed with curiosity and joy. Many students commented that it made the classroom feel more like a space designed for them, which was exactly the goal.\r\n\r\nThe flexible seating has been a game-changer, especially during our current culminating project: an A–Z Google Slides presentation. Each student is creating a slide for every letter of the alphabet, summarizing key concepts we've learned throughout the year. With flexible seating, students are able to choose workspaces that best suit their needs—some prefer quiet corners to focus and reflect, while others group together using floor cushions or low tables to brainstorm and review material collaboratively. It's incredible to see how the right seating encourages independence, creativity, and teamwork.","fullyFundedDate":1746769733746,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-young-learners/9072566/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for Young Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Holiday","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3530438_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1560725424409","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3530438"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_59302","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":442,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":80,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.5,"schoolId":59302,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Darnall Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Darnall Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-diego-unified-school-district/darnall-charter-school/59302"}
