The students have been transformed in to mini-makers. The Laser engraver you funded brought great excitement and hands-or learning to my young learners.\r\n\r\nWhen they first saw the laser they wanted to know everything about it and what it could do. They were so surprised at how fast it was and how they were able to get instant results and want to keep making more.\r\n\r\nThe first thing that the students watch being made was the fist letter of their name with there name engraved on it. They now have these at their desk for reference preposes when writing their names. They also made a standing dinosaur puzzle/diorama where they can tell stories and move the pieces around.\r\n\r\nThey are no longer just looking at drawings but are creating high-quality projects. For example we used the laser to turn a student picture into a puzzle that the whole class can now put together. \r\n\r\nOur next project will be to create name puzzles for the students who are still learning name writing and spelling order. Our buddy students are also getting involved in collaborating and creating new and imaginative things. I cant wait to see what they come up with.\r\n\r\nThis tool has significantly improved engagement in teaching early STEM concepts like spatial reasoning and cause-and-effect in a way that feels like magic. My students absolutely loved the experience of dissecting their own owl pellets and finding the bones inside. Identifying the bones was another skill they learned as they compared the bones to the chart provided. \r\n\r\nThe Owl Pellets were a wonderful columation to an owl unit. Learning about the Owl, there habitat and what they ate was fun. The students thought it was cool that they could fly silently.
