They struggle with reading comprehension because of their limited understanding of words. Their writing can be very drab because of their limited word choice. And when it comes time for standardized testing they often struggle with understanding what is being asked of them because of the tier two words that can be found in the questions. They key to improving all of these things is meaningful vocabulary lessons.\r\n\r\nDeveloping Tier II vocabulary is crucial for improving comprehension, expressing ideas more precisely, and succeeding academically. These words are high-utility and appear across various texts, but are not common in everyday conversation, making them essential for understanding complex academic materials and a key focus for direct instruction.\r\n\r\nI cannot thank you enough for funding a class set of dictionaries for my students to use.
